I'm very much a n00b to compressing files & stuff but I need to for the upcoming WRS competition! I was told to show a replay & not a video so I saved a replay onto PS3 Saved Game Data, found a USB stick & put the replay onto USB!

The replay is on it but is a .0 file! I'm running WinZip on Evaluation version & it doesn't seem to be working but it's probably down to me doing something wrong! Help would be very appreciated as I'm looking forward to my 1st WRS competition!
 
You trying to compress it or unpack it? Use 7-zip, it's free and works very well.

The file path of GT5 replays should read:

PS3 > Savedata > ridiculously long file name > replay contents

Does it say that? If not, you may not have put it on to USB properly.
 
There are a few contents! There's 2 pics with GT5 logo & a completely gray pic! There's 3 other files, PARAM.PFD, PARAM.SFO & the main replay REPLAY.0 ! Never heard of a .0 file before until now! btw, the replay is of the SLS Challenge on the Ring, not the 1 I'll be posting to Vaxen but it was just a test to see if it would work on my laptop!
 
I have the replay on the PS3 & it won't play back! I guess that is down to the fact that the replay file hasn't been compressed!

The PS3 itself won't be able to play the replay - you need to import the replay into GT5's Replay Theater first.
 
Understand that the replay is not a video file. It's simply a collection of the data parameters through the gameplay that occured. What was present at what location at the start time, and controller inputs from that point. When you look at the replay in the game's Replay Theater it re-renders the play from that data. It basically "plays" the game using the replay data instead of the controllers.

Nothing in the replay file but controller input data recorded against time.

If it was a simple video file, you couldn't select camera positions during the playback.
