With the new Update my game won't start... all is not as it seems

For a start there is no problem, but I suspect others may have experienced what I did when I first ran the new version, so I thought a new topic was in order.

I have a large save (admittedly only just over 2 Mb). I start the new version and sit there... and sit there. I Quit and try again. Same thing. I Reboot and try again. At this point I am getting suspicious, so I leave the game apparently frozen for a number of minutes (well it seemed a long time). Finally I get the opening movie and my save is now apparently optimised (though it only lost about 40 Kb). I think the lack of the HDD Confirm message did not help in my original conclusion that the game was frozen.

Did this catch anyone else out?

Next time I start, everything is back to normal, with the load taking under a minute.
 
Yeah it took awhile for thr first load after patch. I'm sure it's normal
 
I had the same problem but it was internet-related. As soon as I removed the ethernet cable it was working well.
 
Had it happen to me, and I've got a smaller save. It may be some system checks, or last minute installation of god knows what. I've seen a few other comments around here that lead me to believe it's perfectly normal.

Without a notification screen, I'm sure the load time is optimized. I just feel sorry for the poor bastards that over react and think it's the end of the world.

I had the same, with or without internet connection, I suggest you do delete you Game Data, (be aware that this deletes your photos, replay's) update your game and Install the Game Data again if you want, it worked for me.
 
Did same for me too, think it must be a first time boot issue, no problems there after..
 
Was a little longer loading yesterday for the first time after the patch, now it's fine.
