Woke Cesspit

Just want to say thanks to the GTP regulars for creating the most reasonable and enlightened space for two cultures that, generally speaking, have fanbases that I usually cannot relate to at all. Thanks for restoring my faith in motorsport and gaming (even if the best threads are nothing to do with either)!

I've always thought this site was pretty weird in that it was designed to discuss a video game but somehow it's attracted a bunch of really thoughtful people who discuss completely unrelated things, some of whom don't even play the video games. I've browsed numerous other car forums while working on my projects and you'd be hard pressed to find any deep discussion on any of them.

Yeah, to be honest I don't think I've actually played a Gran Turismo game since the first one, and that was only when I went to my cousin's house (who is now my rally co-driver haha). Now I'm involved in the rallying scene it's hard to escape wealthy boomers with outdated views, so it's nice to have somewhere else related to motorsport where I feel a bit more at ease (shout out to The Gravel Crew page and group on facebook too, rallying fandom run by an antifascist).

I've been coming here for almost 19 years for the "woke cesspit". The regulars have changed a bit, excellent group back then, and still excellent today. I think it's mostly the people that have made this a standout place.

WCPlanet doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

There is only one other forum I'm even somewhat active on and that one doesn't allow any kind of political discussion because they just don't want to deal with it. What @Jordan has created and nurtured here is nothing short of amazing. Virtually nothing is off limits to discuss and even when topics divide groups down the middle, discussions (for the most part) stay civil.

A GTPlanet member specifically refers to the Opinions & Current Events forum as a "Woke cesspit of intolerance" in their signature - meaning somewhere that overly liberal points of view are expressed but no dissenting points of view are allowed.

Pretty much everyone across the political spectrum (except the original user) finds it comically inaccurate, thus this thread title is satire.

Apologies for the in jokes but we've had two or three laughably incoherent wingnuts on here recently pushing what seem to be single issue stances against tolerance and it feels good to let off some steam.
