This topic is devoted to women in racing. If you would like to honor or talk about a lady in racing, you are free to.

I'll begin.

Milka Duno ( http://www.milkaduno.com )

Milka Duno is a Venezuelan racer that did her part in endurance racing and has had considerable success. I think she's lovely and has a lot of talent. She can ride with the best of them.

Danica Patrick

Closer to home, Danica Patrick has a very bright future. You may see her on Spike TV's Power Block. To say the least, she's pretty foxy. As good as she looks on camera, she's even better in racing. I seen her with the Argent sponsorship in Toyota Atlantic. She raced in the ALMS at Road Atlanta and plans on being an F1 racer. I think she's beautiful, young, and has a lot going for her.

Leilani Munter ( http://seejanedrive.com/ )

Leilani Munter I don't know too much about. But looking at some website, she's mostly in the circle-track business like Shawna Robinson. Okay, she's a NASCAR Touring series racer. I think she has a lot of talent as well. She's lovely. Her website tells you more about her. If you follow the NASCAR Touring Series, you can learn more about her, as I am inexperienced.

These are only a few examples of females in racing you can talk about. Need more? Here are some more ideas: Michele Mouton, Lyn St. James, Shirley Muldowney (correct spelling?), Shawna Marinus, Shawna Robinson, Carol Holdfelder (correct spelling?)... and you go from there. You can talk about the fairer sex in auto racing. You know, the ladies that have the courage to race their hearts out any given weekend.

By the way, I think females can race as good as, if not better, then men. Reply now.

i think more women should get into racing. i would like to see how the macho men react when a woman kicks their arses

No mention of Sarah Fisher? 👎

First woman to score a pole in a major open wheel racing series, got a test drive of the McLaren MP4-16, and she started IRL at only 18 years old.

Definately. UP for Sarah Fisher! Great driver and a beautiful woman!

I think for you NHRA followers, I think Angelle Savoie is still one of the best lady racers. The straight-liner can still pilot a hunk of metal with wheels to victory.

I can recall back in 1999 in the early days in the ALMS (my favorite American-based racing series), there was a such thing as the "Women's Global GT Series." This was a series dedicated to the fairer sex as they pilot Panoz Esperantes around race tracks in America. Panoz came up with a lot of cool series. Hail Panoz!

Hell yeah. She also has the same Birthdate as the Champion Scott Dixon

sarah fisher is allright but there have been better women drivers around that just never got the chance. there was this woman driver in f1 bout 15 years ago (i cant remember her name) but she had potential. back when in f1 you had to pre-qualify, she was teammate to one damon hill. neither of the qualified due to their machinery, but she was pretty much equal with damon as we all know is a world champion.

with sarah fisher, from the IRL races and highlights ive seen, she always seems to crash.

You, again, obviously don't know much about the IRL...

I didn't say that. Sarah Fisher doesn't wreck all the time, most of all her car merely breaks because her current team sucks.

So obviously he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Some of you may think I'm leaving out Sarah Fisher. If you think I am, I'm sorry. I think Sarah Fisher had some close wins, but I think she can do a great job on ovals or... well, this is the IRL. But, she can still get it done even if she isn't Sam Hornish or Helio Castro-Neves. I hope for the best for Fisher.

If anyone knows about Claudia Hurtgen, educate me. I think she had her spells in endurance/sportscar racing. But in this field of racing, I've heard more of Milka Duno than Hurtgen. I'm sure both of which are good racers, much less female racers.

And yet you include Shawna Robinson, and that's just NASCAR, and she DOESN'T even do a great job on ovals. Are you trying to say Shawna Robinson is a better driver then Sarah Fisher, even though Sarah has had Top 5 finishes and poles?

BS.

You missed out Jacky Icxs (sp?) daughter. Elena Icx I think...can't remember. I seem to remember she hasn't been doing a too bad a job of LeMans in the past years.
Also there's a British drvier called Amanda Stretton. She used to be a motosport reporter, but she went into the British GT series last year, and didn't do too badly.

Millen: wasn't that the pink and purple Brahbam?

I think I can recall Yanina Ickx from last year's Le Mans. I can't recall how she did, but I remember hearing about her.

Now when I talk about female racer, I'm going with the notion of "female racers at the office." Now, I don't follow NASCAR all that much, so I cannot comment on Robinson's racing. I do recall Shawna from NASCAR... uh, ARCA. Despite her qualifying and such and based on your reply, Fisher is the better driver in that instance.

The woman to whom you refer is Giovanna Amati.

Equal to Damon Hill - uh, no. She never actually qualified for a grand prix. She had a particularly undistinguished career in F3000, where her best finish was 7th (and it was pretty ordinary before that).

Her career highlight was a rumour that she was 'involved' with Nicki Lauda...

She was last of those cars that actually finished the race. If she had finished 1 lap less, she wouldn't even have met the minimum requirement to be listed as a finisher.

What about Lynn St James?

I maybe wrong but here goes competed in Indy cars in the 90s also Nascar and I think she scored pole at Indy one year. 95??

Also Michelle Mouton WRC driver from back in the group b days nearly won the champ for Audi?

Mouton was very good, and I would suggest out of all motorsport disciplines is the best female of all time.

She only raced in CART, never scored a pole, and did rather poor.

I don't know if I mentioned Lyn St. James. And I was GOING to mention Michele Mouton. Some of you may have seen the Audi commercial 2 years or so ago with Mouton's Quatro, winning the Monte Carlo rally of 1982.

Any more "women in racing" that may have not been mentioned yet?

i know more than you think.........

there will never be a successful female driver...unfortuately. not very sponsor friendly, just doesnt fit in with motorsport. hopefully im wrong.

but imagine, if there was a sucessful woman driver, we wouldnt be able to say "bloody woman driver" and "men are better drivers than women"

I have faith in ladies. I'm sure the ones we DO know in racing will step up their game to the point to where the men are getting "beat by a girl" every race day, all the way to the championship. Now, that may sound like a fairy tale, but as far as I know, it can still happen. Just root on your favorite female driver to victory and hope the lady gets a great run. If you're a female racer yourself, get out there and kick some a$$. Win one for the fairer sex.

Now, there are some lady racers in club and amateur racing that are successful, but I'm sure more ladies will enter racing and take out the male competition. This lady will one day inspire more little girls and teen girls to enter professional racing. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing at least one lady in each class of the Le Mans 24. It just betters the chances of a lady winning.

Now make it happen! Good luck, ladies!

I believe Milka Duno is a great racer. But she looks good doing it as well. This lady from Venezuela ( http://www.milkaduno.com ) is as lovely as her racing ability. It was sad that the Citgo LMP didn't do too well at Sebring recently. So Milka couldn't repeat with her Grand-Am victory at Homestead with Andy Wallace (right?). But win or lose, Duno comes from South America and glitters her beauty across the televisions of race fans whereever she races. Just want to bring back another old topic.

In order for me to hit 800 posts, here is a quick update.

For those of you with the Speed Channel, "WindTunnel with Dave Despain" should be talking about women in racing, in honor of Mother's Day. I'm just hoping someone can nominate Milka Duno for her efforts.

The ATCC had a few women drivers.

Just root on your favorite female driver

I just can't help taking that the wrong way!

The ATCC had a few women drivers.

They did quite well too.

Pfft, I can't believe Dave didn't have Danica Patrick on again, what kind of "women in racing week" can you have without her?

;)

Womens role in racing (this far). Would love to see more of this (:™
