World Racing 2. An underrated game

Does anyone know it? I mean on vanilla it sucks, but it has so many mods down there that blew my eyes! Indeed, I don't know how am I typing this, or how I will read your answers.
Anyway, check it out!
 
Hmm... works fine for me under Windows 8.1, 64bit
You can find any mods here: http://games.reveur.de/en/worldracing-2/addons/
Installing cars is easy, just put them in the game's main folder, or anyway is easy to figure it out (anyway also check the readme)
For the tracks, you need to do the exact same thing, but you also need WR2Manager to inject them in the game (you can also use the tool for insta-unlock everything)
Should you need help, don't hexitate to reply

I reccommend GT1 mod, GT2, GT3, Group C, LMP1, LMP2, Old LMPs (The ones in Gran Turismo 4), but there are so many!
 
Hmm every time I try to start it, once installed, it wants to reboot my PC and install some protection system, which my computer really didn't like at all. Any way to bypass this? Hoping there is a modified version around...
 
I did, ran as Vista SP2 (as this seemed around the right date) run as admin and it still wants to restart, the thing is I think once you restart it, it surely returns to Win7 compatibility? Or perhaps not...which system would you run it as?
 
I used to love this game. I had gigantic collection of mods but lost it few months ago sadly. And my game disc, I think it's gone, checked everywhere and couldn't find it. It gains so much with mods but it's good only for cruising because racing itself is horrible (with mod cars game often chooses wrong AI cars and you see supercars racing with hatchbacks). It has so many car mods that it's harder to find a car that haven't been made than cars that are possible to download. :D

Don't know about you, but with me AI and "matchmaking" work just fine :D I guess because modding has become finer...
 
Thanks for trying @Madatek did try your file and seemed OK but upon rebooting Win7 flashed some message up about the drivers not being compatible. Now, trying to run the .exe again asks to reboot and install the protection software (running as XP SP3). If your modding friends have a solution that would be awesome :)
 
I think it depends on a mod. But I still prefer to just cruise around. I always liked Italy map. There is even improved version of it with more details on gamesreveur.
 
So, cutting long story short, if you use win 7 or higher, just download patch 1.4.3 and don't use compatibility settings
 
Thanks, finally got the game installed and controller set up correctly, and whilst I realise the mods make this look like a totally different game, I am still having fun with the 1 player campaign enough to finish that, then look at the mods :)

I get that but is it open world, is it confined to a track, is there a career mode, is there licenced cars, are there licenced tracks...

Openworld... sorta... there are some maps in which you can go freeroaming, but is not influent.
There is a carreer mode, and there are licensed cars (around 70 from Mercedes, Wolkswagen, Gumpert, Pagani and Alfa Romeo), some town scenarios and the Hockeneimring.
The driving model is customizable, from Arcade to Sim (Sim seems more like the old GT driving styles)
The most important things though are the mod, you will find almost everything:

PS: The game is quite old, so download the patch 1.4.3 if you have a newer OS

Yes, in the town scenarios there is traffic, too, but you can disable it.
Also, downloading F1 and Monaco and race with traffic is priceless :D

I think it is an abandonware now, quite hard to find, also because it's 10 years old (Even though it still holds on pretty well)
I don't think you will find it legally anymore (I lost my CD and I had to go through the pirate way)

No, this was before that. I booted up the game, was at a crappy res but I just wanted to get playing, went for the very first event (driving some limo in Italy) and it said it couldn't load it
 
The demo wasn't patched, the full game with patch 1.4.3 doesn't have such problems... at least i never experienced them.
Sometimes it happens to me too, but i just keep on trying, 2 or 3 times and it works
