There will also be a new European Juniors Cup, which you can read more about at ( http://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/latest-news/4804.html ). You ready for a new season of World Superbike? I extend my best wishes to all riders competing in SBK for 2011.

Really hoping Jonathon Rea can win title this year. He has come along way at a young age and if he wins it'll be stepping stone to MotoGP. HRC see a big future for him, shown by giving him a 3 day test on Stoner's bike a few weeks back.

For SBK championship im sure the usal boys will be up there, but don't be surprised if Eugene Laverty is right up there.

2011 Ken Tate WSBK Fireblade looks good with Castrol Colours .

Keep a watch to Marco Melandri too, he is a very talented guy, I think he can be very competitive despite this will be his SBK debut season.

Nice one, Castrol livery look always good, car or bike.

I'm more used to the Castrol colors of the mid-late 1990s. Since we're talking Castrol colors, I'm reminded of the old Castrol Honda RC45 race bike. This Castrol superbike in Post #3 looks lovely. I think Marco Melandri is quite a great rider. I'm sure he will not fail to impress this season.

I like Rea & Haslam but I think Biaggi and Aprilia may repeat this year

The Castrol RC45 has been WSBK champion in 1997 with the amazing John Kocinski.

I hope 'Nitro' Nori Haga is finally to win the championship. I think he sort of deserves it after those years of being 2nd and 3rd... And I like his style 👍

Yeah, I would like to see Nori Haga win a championship too, he is much skilled and got a lot of experience, from 2000 to 2010 he did 3 times 2nd, 4 times 3rd, 1 time 4th with Aprilia in 2002, but 2010 has been one of his worst season, only 6th with 258 points.

I'd love to see Haga win it , but I think he's past is best days , hopefully he'll prove me wrong though

J. Rea on the Honda should be in with a shout as should Leon Haslam , Biaggi must be odds on for a second Title but he again is getting on so i'm hoping the young guns get in there and fight it out .

Going to be a Weird Championship without a Official Works Ducati team though

I'd also like to see someone put this up the Sharp end , on looks alone I think its wicked 👍

Tom Sykes will be the man to do that.👍

Trust me- I LOVE "Nitro" Haga. I always want him to have solid seasons. Maybe this will be that Coming of Age season for Haga. Competition is plenty tough, though.

The new season is underway! Unfortunately on Facebook... I accidentally found out who won the two races in Australia. So let me just say... congratulations to the winner(s) of the first two races of the season.

Impressive double win by Carlos Checa, good races by Biaggi and great debuts by Melandri and Laverty on Yamaha.
It looks like will be a great season. I said that Melandri could do well but I didn't expect he can do a big fight with Biaggi in the first round like that!

I didn't get to see the Supersport race on Speed Channel earlier today. Congratulations to the one who won that race in Australia.

Scassa won by .009s over Parkes.
It was a good race.

Word. Checa was miles ahead in both races. It was a pretty boring race. Behind him though there was some pretty close competition.

The BMWs made a good debut as well.

Melandri wins the first race, Checa with the win in the second race.

Biaggi DQ'd in the 2nd race for jumping the start. Checa is looking really good so far this season.

It was great that Donnington Park wasn't closed down forever. I only saw the final laps to both races. Maybe I hear so many names that I never realize when they win their first race. Didn't know this win for Melandri was his first-ever in the series.

So up next is Assen. Should always be great fun when motorcycles (regardless of MotoGP or SBK) race there.

It's just Melandri's first season in SBK. Definitely good news about Donington though, pity MotoGP decided to go to Silverstone. I'm also glad it was decided not to change Donington's track layout when BRDC got all uppity about races at Silverstone.

I'm looking forward to Assen as well. There isn't a long straight which is conducive to good racing.

Are there any riders/teams/manufacturers you're impressed with so far in SBK? What about any disappointments so far?

Very surprised by Checa. I was NOT expecting this kind of form. Melandri has been very quick too.

Disappointments? Where to start? Biaggi for being an idiot. Jonny Rea has not been near as fast as I expected. Pocket Rocket has not been as consistently near the front as I hoped. Thought Sykes & Kawasaki would be faster too.

It really shouldn't be a surprise Checa is doing so well. He had good year last year on the satellite Ducati & now he is on the factory bike. The official Ducati team may have pulled out but Ducati are putting a sneaky effort in with Checa.

Jonny Rea has had some big crashes this year as this shows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAQJeSwL3Ug
Assen is the teams home track & JR did the double last year so hopefully he can get his season kick started here.

I think Haslam is doing wonders on BMW. Just look where the the other BMW riders are. Nowhere. Leon is such a gritty competitor that he can always pull something out off the hat.

I hope the regular SBK guys can start beating thes ex gp guys soon!

I'm surprised Xaus isn't doing better on the BMW. He's not as quick as I previously though.

Word on Biaggi being an idiot though. I can't believe the 2010 SBK champion jumped the start and didn't serve his penalty ending up in a black flag. That's inexcusable for anyone especially a champion. The new Aprilias aren't looking as good as last year since the camshaft ban.

Melandri has been fast though. I always felt like he didn't have anything near a great bike for the last 2/3rds of his career in MotoGP. I thought he deserved a shot at Repsol but they went with Asimo instead.

Yep, definitely not the world-beater it was last year. I liked seeing something other than Ducati at the front too...

🤬

I really messed up my last two motorcycle posts. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I was looking at Wikipedia and the table of race results and got things mixed up.
