way to be exact for a record!

finally been to the top of glasgow tower, for those that dont know it was closed several times after it had opened for safety reasons for a few years and was finally reopened at the end of last year.it is an awesome piece of engineering, stands at 127m(416ft) from ground level, there is then another 20metres under ground level from where you get on the lift, another 20 metres under that till you get to the base and then another 20 metres under that of concrete(3,000 tonnes) before you get to the bedrock.the tower itself weighs 500 tonnes and apparently each time they repaint it it adds another 2 tonnes.

the one thing i cant get my head around with it is that all that weight is sitting on a ball bearing that is only 65cm in diameter!:scared: and on a wind free day it would only need 12 men to turn it.during the summer though they have it locked in place facing over glasgow as it turns with the wind where it is build it will always try to turn and face govan(the worst place in the world,if you think you know a place worst trust me you dont) which means it will move alot with the wind.they said it would be similar to a boat and was it hell  ive sailed loads of boats from laser picos to 73ft yachts and this didnt sway like any boat ive been on! great views though :)
