I would imagine, after seeing Coulthard tear up Red Bull's F1 car on the to-be-built Circuit of the Americas:

And Red Bull's Pikes Peak entry:

[Note the LMP-type car]

The extremely low clearance of both cars leads me to hypothesize that a car like the X2010 would possibly have potential on a dirt or snow surface. Obviously, I would rule out any forms of jumps for the X2010 since the impact(s) would likely destroy the chassis, and the vacum-exhaust would need to be adjusted to account for the debris that it picks up and shoots out.

So, what do you think?

And before you go on saying "Oh the X2010 isn't real", remember that this is a discussion, and comments like that don't contribute.

I don't think it would work for several reasons. First of all I think the fan system would have to be turned off completely, otherwise it would either spew rocks out the back of the car (if it didn't destroy the fans) or it would block up internally.

Secondly I don't believe there is enough suspention travel available. Even if you did switch the suspention components, I still dont think there is enough room for the different components to move around to allow the extra travel.

Third and final nail in the coffin in my opinion, it has too much power to put through two wheels on a loose surface.

It would be a disaster driving the X2010 on dirt. I'm sure all of you have gone off track and into the grass/sand at least once in the X2010, and it takes forever to get back to the tarmac. Now imagine that on a loose gravel/dirt surface. It could probably be beaten by a dead snail.

no it cant work. The fan system will get destroyed, unless theres a filter mechanism to prevent dust n stones from getting sucked up.

I think it will just like putting the vacuum cleaner on dirt, dirt will be suck up and brow out at the back of the car. And the fan responsible for downforce will be damaged.

As a result, the car will go like "a run away train"!

It won't work unless the X2010 dump the fan concept and go with 'conventional' rally engine.

Would be impossible for a fan car to work on a surface other than tarmac.

I think the fan car would work ok on dirt. It's the cars behind it that would have the most problems!:ouch:

It wouldn't work because the air travelling under it would become very uneven and unstable, messing up the whole stability of the car.

Out of all 3 surfaces (Snow, Ice, Dirt) The X2010/11 would be least suited for dirt due to the instability of the surface. On ice it MIGHT (stress might) be able to run somewhat.
