Would this PC setup last me awhile?

Okay guys, I don't feel like building my next PC and my homebuilt rig is about 6 years old now (Yes I'm still running XP lol). While I can run Crysis 2 (newest PC game I've owned as of late) w/ pretty much max settings....I think it's time to upgrade. I will pull the ATI 5600 series from my old comp and plug it into the new one. I wanna be able to handle the madness of FPS's coming out w/ in the next year or so. Especially BF3. Should I wait a bit til the six core processors and 6000 series ATI's come down in price? Also will be running the usual PC racing sims. Good deal or hold off for awhile? Also how would the setup below handle a triple monitor setup? (22" to 24" each)

Best Buy has a HP tower for $599

AMD Phenom™ II quad-core processor 960T* 3.0GHz
8GB DDR3 SDRAM (can go up to 16)
2MB L2 cache + 6MB shared L3 cache memory
1.5TB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit

The most important factor in future upgrade ability's mostly what CPU socket your mobo's got as well as ram type. Seems like you've got AM3 and DDR3.
PSU capacity (power unit) is also very integral to having a well rounded system.

Only other thing that could possibly be holding you back is how many PCI-E slots you have I suppose. It seems like you have at least one, which is fine. Give me more info. on the exact model tower and such and I can give you better detail.

If you have anything less than a 400W power supply (which is really likely) I'd highly recommend upgrading your PSU to at least 600W, and ideally a modular model.

As far as your current set up goes. It's solid but you definitely need a good graphics card installed. Part of this will probably included the aforementioned PSU upgrade. So you're gonna be looking at spending an extra $150-$200 to get set up proper.

Everything else on your system's great for, depending on how far you go with your graphics card, will run games on high for two years at least.

Windows 8 release in the future is meant to free up more processing power. So that's something that you might want to change next year.

@got,

I recently purchased the Hp-510y from Best buy for $859US. That was AFTER taxes. It is similar, but has a 6-core AMD processor with ability to upgrade RAM, Graphics Card, etc.... Wardez is correct that you definitely want the ability to upgrade in time. I am going to get a 3HDMI video card by Radeon soon for tri-screen support.

I primarily got this for iRacing, and must say, holy ****. It is more than I truly needed. BUT, I am very happy with it, because it is everything and more than I need for YEARS to come. I take exquisite care of my electronics, and know this desktop can in a literal sense last me the next 20 years.

The one you are looking at in $499 at Walmart FYI. AND, it is definitely worth getting. I was going to get that one until my friend talked me into the 510y. But, both great machines. And yes, would most definitely work, and last you a WHILE to come!

You could get a PC with i7 2600(non-K version) with a GeForce GTS 450. Seems like a good gaming computer and the graphics should be better than your 5600.

That HP has inegrated graphics so be sure it not only has an expansion slot for you to add your ATI card, but also the space in the case for the size of your card.

Thanks for all the info guys...and just realized we have a hardware section so I will post my next question over there.

Talked to my parents this morning and I went over and grabbed (dad's terms) crapped out one year old computer lol.

This thing has an AMD Phenom II Quad Core, 8 gb ram, 2.XX (I can't remember processor) etc. They took it to geek squad and were told they needed a new HDD. So they bought one and couldn't get it to run. So Dad said I could have it. Now I'm trying to set it up and having no luck. But it will be over in the computer hardware section for a thread on that. Thanks again and sorry I posted this thread in the wrong place.

New thread w/ problem
