BY this I mean what it sounds like. You get 3 to 4 people together to drive and stay together and at random points trying to pass but not get to far. Because the point would be to see for how long and how close can u follow some one without hitting them. Any thoughts?

Is this on a track or a b-road or what? Being in front means you have more flexibility in your braking points I suppose, as well as practicing passing in a safe, non-competitive environment when you come from behind.

The point of it is to have some actually have some one driven with on long tracks or short tracks.

It could be on any track I just thought it would be a challenge to try and stay behind some one even if had a faster car because you have no clue what the person is going to do which makes for some interesting times but this is all really just a thought.

Are you talking about in Gran Turismo 5 or in real life? If Its in GT5 its the wrong forum ^^. In regard to GT5, the only problem with it is that if you are racing, unless all drivers have cars that are the same speed or very close, and their skill on the track is the same or very close, atleast one of the drivers is going to need to driver slower, which would result in boredum for the sake of it.

Go race bicycles.
