hi guys, just thought while watching the Belgium Grand Prix. Who would love to see the RB7 for DLC in the future? For a championship winning car and given the relationship between Kaz and Redbull with the X1 project, it would be awesome to drive in the game. What does everyone think?

Ask Bernie. But I think I know the answer.

Nah, would like some more road cars which isn't already in the game!

What would Bernie have to do with this? The Ferrari's are also in the game, what difference would it make having Redbull's? or would this start to conflict with the F1 2011? :scared:

It cannot happen. Codemasters have the F1 license. Any race with Red Bull's in is in infringement of that license as it can be classified as a "Grand Prix". Ferrari are similar but there license is individual as it is "Ferrari"

I think it's licensing. I don't really know what any of it's called or even what the people who dictate Formula car licensing. I have no idea but I'm certain it's to do with the licensing of the car. And to be honest no. I don't use my Ferrari at all and I regret buying it. I agree with McSoap, want more road cars. Lamborghini Diablo or Aventador. More like those.

Aww man, I see now that sucks thanks for clarifying this

Heh for sometime I felt the same way, I'm also a DS3 user and I thought trying to control the Ferrari's and X1's was pointless but lately I've been doing alot of laps with my Ferrari 2007 on Spa and I've been having alot of fun. Give it a go, but I agree also with more road cars.

Thanks for the posts

Bernie and his FOM (Formula One Management) grants an exclusive licence for F1 which covers all teams bar Ferrari which controls it's own licensing and image rights.

Would I like the Red Bull Racing RB7? Absolutely, but it is not going to happen. Besides I would rather more useful racing cars such the seriously sexy Audi R18 TDI.

I can control them fine. Took me a while in the X1 to finally win the challenge but I did. So it's not a matter of if I can control the F2007 it's just I don't ever find myself using it. There's no Ferrari Race in A/B Spec which there should have been, and I don't find racing the F1 seasonal challenging enough, kind of boring.

+1 , I'm pretty sure they tried to do this with the RB6 and it's pretty obvious that they got a no. From what I remember, you can't do anything that may constitute an F1 race, which includes two different F1 cars from the same season going against each other in a race. The reason why we can get away with having the two Ferrari's from 2007 and 2010 is because that constitutes towards being a Corse Clienti meeting, remember, Ferrari sells it's old F1 cars to buyers who meet up at the Corse Clienti meetings along with the owners of the FXX and other track day specials and racecars that are in private hands.

However, I have posted before that this does not apply to F1 cars made before a certain cut-off point (I'm not sure of what this cut-off point is but I'll ask my friend who works at FOM), and also, Polyphony could use the Euroboss/BOSS series as a loophole to include previous F1 cars from before 2005.

What makes you so sure of that? We have the FW31 on iRacing and the 2007 Sauber BMW on rFactor. FOM only has the right for F1, not the teams. Offcourse it's easier for Codemasters to go trugh Bernie first and aquire the license for an F1 game and then get the license from the individual teams rather than having licenses for the teams and no F1 license.
Red Bull are free to sell their license to PD if they choose to do so, their car is their own creation and property and all rights over it belong to them.
Now the thing would be that most likely you won't be able to race the car against the F10 or F2007, so unless they get a new agreement with Ferrari it would'nt be much fun...

Edit: I just read braifade's post wich pretty much explains why we can't race the Ferraris against anything else, so I don't see much point in bringin the RB7 to the game. A shame because F1 2010/2011 sucks!

You can only have one of the teams, not two at the same time as two different makes of F1 car racing each other constitutes towards an F1 race.

Yup! Just edited my post after reading your previous one...

neh. new tracks can wait. i'm waiting for the old ones to be resurrected.

What about the F2004 or F2002? That's OK isnt it? I dont see why they didnt introduce another one in the first round of DLC.

What about a Ferrari F150? We know Ferrari can get around the FOM contract that applies to all other teams by running them to other clients, wouldn't it be nice to have an uncensored Ferrari F1 car in the game :)

They "should" (note the ""'s) just add classic F1 cars which don't need the license Codemasters has, or make a new, Premium, Formula GT, which looks like a modern F1 car and is paintable (plus the changeable racing numbers).

This isn't true.

Simraceway:

will give gamers the chance to drive 60 McLarens, including all of the company’s F1 cars.

This includes the current Formula One car – the MP4-26 – as well as the cars made famous by James Hunt, Emerson Fittipaldi and, of course, Ayrton Senna whose six season career with the team began driving the formidable MP4/4

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of McLaren Racing:

Choosing Simraceway as our licensor for all 60 McLarens makes perfect sense, We’re highly impressed with their gaming products, innovative technology and the drive of their people. We are very optimistic that this will represent the start of a successful co-operation between the two companies, and we look forward to seeing our rich and beloved heritage brought to life in the virtual world.

This ^ is what i want!

I agree G.T.Ace. Theres so many more interesting older F1 cars. Like the Tyrell P34 (6 wheeler), Brabham BT-46? Fancar, old Lotus's (25, 49, 72 etc), Auto Unions, Old Mercedes (Like the W196 Streamliner, W125 etc), Some old mclarens (M7C, Mp4/4 etc), Costin-nathans, marchs. The list goes on and on. I think i'd rather have any of those over a modern F1 car anyday.

Why don't they just get Red Bull to design a Formula GT instead of that stupid X2010 and X2011. That way we get a premium Formula car that is designed by Adrian Newey and can be drivable! :)
