Are u serious?
I was reading some articles on the net and came across this news article about Activision wanting players to pay extra to play games like Call of Duty online in the future.

The link for this article is here!

I'm not sure if this would include the PS3 as well... Since PS3 user dont pay for online...

What are your thought on this... I think its ridiculous and dont understand really why they would want to travel this route... Hence I ask GTPers about their views ;)

Note to Mods: Searched for it but didnt find anything... move or merge as you please ;)

I have a 360 but i don't pay for online as it is (kind of a shame, but any multiplats i get on PC or PS3 anyway so i can still play online), if they did charge i'd stop buying Call of Duty games, but it's obvious loads of people would, i mean, look at the millions of people that pay for XBL quite happily...

Shhh... don't give them any ideas...

Eff no, I wouldn't play... I'd go find the best free alternative and get used to it.

No way, activision just want more money in their banks.
Multiplayer is a essential feature for a game like Call Of Duty.

Where did you read they want to make you pay extra for just online? The article is about additional features for paying subscribers, which is not necessarily bad IMO. Think stuff like dedicated servers, extra content every few months, custom maps/mods, enhanced gameplay features, etc. etc. They're also hinting at a CoD MMO style game. :)

After playing MW2 yesterday, I would never pay to play online.
For me to pay to play online the powers that be would really have to step up their game.
What I mean is the game play would have to be nearly flawless, NO lag, NO network servers timing out, NO host migration, blah, blah, blah.
Yesterday I must have had 4 games in a row with host migration and 2 of those I had to exit anyway (no opposing players).
I believe we pay good money for these games and consoles, that should be enough.
Anything more just feeds the greed. The map packs are the same greedy tactics.
Unfortunately the CoD series is really nothing without online play.
If I had to pay for the online play I would never buy them.
Obviously an advantage for the PS3.

Until online play is a lot more stable I won't pay a single cent for online play, for any game, even GT5.

they're also hinting at a cod mmo style game. :)

Oh no... Activision is pulling a... *shudders* World of Warcraft. Considering being owned by blizzard, I think that might happen. They will wiping their arses with dollar bills if that happens to succeed. I mean, Mw2 alone has an estimated 300.000.000 dollar revenue (on release). Imagine how larger those figures would be with millions of subscribers to the service . It's a frightening possibility that a CoD MMO could be produced.

If it were XBL, and these plans were possible. I would want all the market items for free.

After some thought about this topic....

If they were going to add more features and make a sort of MMO style CoD game, I would consider it... I dont know if I would pay for it right away. Id have to see it first of course. If that does catch on and we get a sort of Army orientated "WoW" type environment it COULD be quite cool.... Never played "WoW", so Im not sure how that would really play out... They would have to keep the 1st person aspect in it though... IMO

It would be hard because it would be harder to farm or at least be a tank in a Army Style WoW. Its like a tank in a Tank.. But Zipper is making MAG..which I am not looking forward to if I have a PS3. Because they messed up Socom series.
