Wouldn't model-specific leaderboards be great?

Every single leaderboard seems to be dominated by the same cars, and I find it really deflating.
I can make the top 1% of almost all leaderboards, but that's still as low as 10,000th place on certain tracks.

Seems to be Chevy Spark/Lotus Elise on the lower classes, then Lotus 2-Eleven from A to R2, and then Sauber C9 at R1.
There is no variety at all and I've no hope of getting anywhere near the top guys (who clearly use the full driving simulation set-up).
It's a shame because every track's leaderboard is now nothing but a meaningless high score table. I'd love to know how I do against others using the same car as me, rather than finding out yet again that my stock Nissan GT-R (or whatever) is 10 seconds behind an expertly tuned Lotus 2-Eleven :(

Yes, more options for leaderboards would be great, even for offline use. I wish it saved the best times for all my cars so that i could compare and contrast.

I've always thought this too. That way you can weed out the leaderboard cars and compare your skills against something that doesn't have a unique advantage.

It's basically the one-make Rivals events but bigger and the ability to tune.

GREAT idea! I think it would be easy to just add a filter for car and allow us to compare based on the car level.

I'd be all for more options in the leaderboards. Not just by model, but also by setup. I'm still mainly using the Wireless Speed Wheel on Auto, and predominantly drive FWD cars (I find them easier to drive with the Wireless Speed Wheel), and there's just no way in hell I can compete with any half decent racer using a proper setup, and driving manual. In the higher classes, it's equally extremely difficult to compete with RWD cars. Would love to see how I compare to people who are using a similar setup and the same cars.

This part. So simple. Job done 👍

Wouldn't be that hard, but I think it's not what they want because of the way how we use the leaderboards for rivals mode. But that filter option for hotlap mode would be great :D

One thing I hate is when I muscle car is a leaderboard car everyone cries and bitches but as soon as a little lotus is the leaderboard car, it's all fine...

Anyway, car specific leaderboards would be nice though to save server space, they should be limited to top 1,000 or something.

That's it Carlos, just let me see how I really measure up against genuinely equal cars.

RikkiGTR: It's always the same guys as well. In one or two tracks in 'F' class I'm in the top 1% which means 18,734....I feel your pain.

Some great points were made here, but let's say you have a pool of pro or stock tuned cars (pick several brands for different classes)

No matter what happens, those who are on the top of the leader board...will be there again.

Though experience I've come to the realization that there are super stars in all aspects of life.

In all sports athletes have the same shoes, helmets, bats, gloves, skates, sticks, etc.

IROC Racing for example: Mark Martin had won 4 championships in 5 years...

The creme rises to the top no matter what. AND FM4 is no exception.

Wasn't quite the same though. When the dart and co were dominating the LB's the gap between them and any other non rev banging car was something stupid like 6-7 seconds. At least now you can get close in other cars and if tuned right top 100 is perfectly possible on most tracks.

Why they removed locsal leaderboards that were in FM2 is beyond me though.

Oh absolutely, I agree. I still don't think these 'pros' are going to be bothered with driving every single car on every single track to set top LB times.

Not that it even matters if we had simply another filter added (rather than leaderboards for every vehicle). You can press X to cycle through "near me" and then press X again for "same car", so these guys in the Chevy Spark, Lotus Elise, 2-Eleven etc etc will still hold their positions at the top of a Total Leader Board...

I went straight to Forza 4 from Forza 2, and the event leaderboards are one of the things I miss the most. Filters is an ingenious idea, and probably really simple to implement. All they would have to do is filter the leaderboard by the event restrictions, easy, right? I wouldn't even mind waiting a few seconds for it to download.

Even getting a damn near perfect lap out of a normal car, some of my lap times are almost 10 seconds slower than what ever lotus is dominating that track/class.

Managed to get to 757th (out of over 500,000!) yesterday, Nordschleife stage C, yet still about 8 seconds off top spot. I reckon I could find another 2 seconds with some determination.
There appears to be a group of a few hundred guys who are head and shoulders above the rest, and no matter what I do I can't get near them.
Granted, I use a controller because I just can't get used to the MS Wheel.

A lot of top leaderboard drivers use a pad as opposed to a wheel.

One step at a time guys. It would be great if the leaderboard's worked 100% before adding yet more things. Every car you see listed after the top #100 is just a repeat of the top #100 (if you scroll top to bottom).

The filters barely work as it is.

On second thoughts, I don't think this is true. On virtually every track, the top guys are using manual gears with clutch and I find it hard to believe this is mapped to a button on their controllers - it would be far too fiddly to achieve those sort of times...

I run Manual + Clutch on a pad.

Just swap Clutch with Handbrake.

Clutch becomes 'A' and it makes it very easy to hit A + B or A + X to shift gears. Really isn't that hard.

Right so I tried that today. Have to say I really enjoyed it.
I had to swap gear up/down to make it feel more natural; it felt awkward pressing A + B to shift up because of my hand position, but when I swapped them round so that A + X became shift up, it felt really good.
Managed to almost equal my fastest time in A Class around Laguna Seca after a couple of laps.

Something I definitely like about it (although probably a minor thing), is that I have full control from the very start. None of this meaningless automatic revving before the lap/race starts.

Are you sure? Seems to me that the best drivers with the fastest times would use a wheel!!
I only have the controller, and some tunes I've been gifted have been awesome, the cars stick to the road with the controller.

You actually run a manual tranny on the controller?
Wow!

I still believe this is the case.

:D

I've seen one person at the very top of the leaderboard who I'm certain is using a controller. On one of the oval tracks, he had almost all driving aids switched on. ABS, TCS, automatic gears and so on...

It doesn't say on FM4 (not as far as I'm aware), I've just been assuming that the top times are all with a wheel and pedals set-up. Firstly because they're using a clutch, and then because they are so far ahead...
