Basically if you want a cheap and light racer get the TR. If you want a more comfortable subaru with more than enough power get the STI. If you want seriously big HP get the TR as most of the original parts will be swapped out anyway.

Pontiac and higher quality than a japanese car ? oh well... I don't know

...The GTO I speak of is the same exact car as the Opel/Vauxhall/Holden Monaro, Chevrolet Lumina in the Middle East, etc. available with the 400HP LS2 V8 from the Corvette. For about $30K USD, you can't go wrong there. Of course, she is out of production now, 2006 being the last model year here in the US untill presumeably 2008 or 2009 when the Zeta cars hit the streets...

a forest xt jay? and JCE, good call, but i was thinking people would want the giant wing, BBS wheels, large brakes. but with 9 grand to spend, that could be had.

I test drove the forester XT and man, I was impressed, super quick litte monster, and the practicality is great, I'm married, have a big german shepherd and alot of camping / fishing / outdoor crap. Being able to do all of that and still pull 5.9 sec 0-60 and 14.3 sec 1/4 mile. All while getting 25 mpg.

Wait...you mean to tell me you have a LOGICAL reason for getting a small SUV? It's not just to feel bigger or sit up higher? Man, what are you thinking! :sly:

Subaru's in general have all those qualities you mentioned. They just tend to be ugly in doing it. Except for the Legacy GT ;)

case in point the B9 tribeca. damn that is one ugly duckling that i dont predict will turn into a swan anytime soon. pontiac had the aztec, subaru has that thing. i would never buy one, but a restyling is in order please.

Yes, but it gets excellent ratings and owner satisfaction. So, maybe some Americans don't care about how their cars look. :sly:

I might be one of the few that think the new face of subaru is appealing. I prefer it to the previous years even. It gives excellent brand definition as well as being different from anything else on the road ( in North America anyways ). And Swift, the 2006 forester is much improved and smoothed over in the looks dept. so 'splllllllppplplltttttt'
