Hey guys. I'm not quite sure if trying to buy things on this site is against the rules, but I didn't see a classified forum so I thought I'd try here. If this is against the rules, please lock the thread. :sly:

Anyways. I finally have my copy of GT4 (japanese), and can't play it because of the whole DVD9 thing.... So, I was wondering if anyone here has a japanese or modded ps2 they would be willing to part with. If needed, I have a Silver PS2 that I won from kicking peoples a** in a GT4 driving contest at the Game Stop managers conference in September, I would be willing to trade. If you need the specifics on that system, PM me. Thanks! :dopey:

Just buy a chip or go to ebay. The DMS 4 will have a solder-less installation kit available soon and it's a pretty sweet cIip. Or check ebay for japanese spec ps2's. There should be a few floating around.

I tried ebay. There were only a few on there, and they were pretty high priced. Do you know when that DMS install kit is coming out?

Apparently, It's out already at Divineo.com. The problem is that you will have to purchase it through Divineo's China page (the site is still in english).

I'd suggest you wait a few weeks for their US site to have it. They'll start shipping pre-ordered units in a few days.

If I do a mod chip, it only has to play GT4. I don't need a whole lot of features. Plus, it has to work with the Slim PS2. Anyone know of any solderless mod chips that work with DVD9's? :dunce:

There's only 1 solderless chip that works and that's the DMS4.

Why don't you get a hard drive, network adapter, and HDLoader for that silver ps2 you have laying around? That way you just have to use your computer to transfer the game to the hdd and it'll play flawlessly. Just stop by the HD Loader thread we have here to get info on that option

I do have a HDD, Network adapter. I thought that method was not working as of yet? Something about the game checking for a second layer, etc.?

You need some software and you have to install the hard drive onto your computer temporarily. It will let you run dual layer games with no probs using that method. It's all been discussed in the other thread

GT4 doesn't work from the hard drive.

Well, the only two remaining options then are either a) wait for the US version of GT4 like the rest of us or b) Spend the $80 on a solderless chip that you know nothing about (it's new, nobody has recieved test units yet) or c) spend $100 to have someone install a working chip for you

Well, the standard DMS4 is supposed to be pretty good, but I've heard nothing about the EZI version yet.
