Hey everyone- I've started running the X2011 around the Nordschleife, and I have a few questions. Have the updates over the past couple of years changed the way the car reacts? I got a late start on GT5, so I'm not familiar with the effects the updates have had. I've heard there was a change to the way downforce affects top speed- is this true?

Secondly, any general thoughts on the setup for Nurburgring? The only things I have changed from stock are RS tires, full downforce front and rear, and top speed gearing change to 255mph.

I've made it down to 3:29.07, which I'm happy with. But I am curious to know if there are any setup ideas that might make it a little faster.

Thanks!

Use the stock downforce if you can handle it, and you should keep the top speed around 290ish mph, all of that should make you around 10 seconds faster, having a high rear downforce creates understeer and the more downforce, the more drag you create and the less faster you go.

That is a good time so, very nice time 👍 .. I've always ran at the 24hr configuration which usually puts you right around the 4 minute marker.. I usually run a higher top speed since the X1 has incredible "pull" through the gears anyways. The downforce seems a little excessive, I honestly don't use the x2011 except for top speed runs. If I run on a track I always use the X2010.. I'd imagine the setup and handling characteristics are the same, and if so I usually run around 116 front and 156 rear.. With Mac downforce I notice the car is not as responsive and likes to keep turning beyond where you wish to change desire room or straighten it back out.. You should save a low 3 minute lap replay, that would be awesome so see someone else run that fast around NuR!!

Try messing with the controller sensitivity. This will greatly impact the X's handling

I believe for the 24h race I turned it all the way down to -2 in an attempt to keep it out of the grass as much as possible.

No, it shouldn't, me and a friend (who has thousands of laps in the X2010 and X2011 at Nordschleife) had somebody join the room once and say exactly the same thing, criticise us for doing it wrong and get annoyed that we were setting much faster laps (with higher downforce, arrived at after much testing). The stock downforce is not the fastest way around any track in these cars.

jgancherjr has the right idea, 116 156 should work pretty well. I prefer 140 170 for the Nordschleife, but that is quite twitchy without practise.

Edit: Yes, there was a change to the way downforce affects speed around a year ago, The X2011 used to hit 280+ MPH on the long straight at Nürburgring with full downforce.

Thank you all very much for your comments. I haven't played with the setup a lot, but as tricky as that track can be, I prefer max downforce front and rear.

I've posted the video of the lap in the Videos section..
