X³: Reunion (2005) is a space trading and combat game developed by Egosoft for Windows. It has been ported to Linux and Mac OS X; both for release in August 2007.[1]
X³: Reunion is the third full game in Egosoft's award-winning X series. It is the sequel to X²: The Threat (2003), which in turn followed X: Beyond the Frontier (1999). The X series is often compared to the classic Elite, in that these first-person space adventure games focus on trade and exploration, as well as combat. (Taken from wikipedia)

I just ordered it new from a seller on amazon for 10 bucks (including shipping) so I get the manual/box/CD for half the price on steam and direct2drive.

I've read all positive reviews of this game and there's a few really good modifications for it to.

A few cool pics

So it looks really cool too. Does anyone have this and can tell me what they think of it? It looks really awesome!

I might have to look into this since I still play Freelancer from time to time and this game sounds fairly similar.

Ok so I got it last night, pretty cool and the graphics are awesome on it. How did you end up liking it?

Caution! X3 isn't really a space flight sim!

It's an economy simulation, AND IT'S GOD DAMN COMPLEX.
I needed maybe a month to understand the game, to know where i can find special products, weapons, ships, etc..

Without a X3-forum to help you starting up your career and tons of guides, maps, etc. you won't have succes and fun in X3!

But if you don't have problems with reading guides and take your time to learn the game ( and you have to do this ), X3 is the best offline space game, you can find.

I played it for months. 👍

I've had the games (X2 and X3) for about a year and a half. Playing it has been an on-and-off, love-or-hate affair, but it's certainly not a franchise for the mediocre. Extremely complicated and difficult to learn are the games' two biggest problems. Aside from that, the franchise is effectively unrivaled in this genre.

I recommend playing X2 before playing X3 as it is easier to learn and actually has a training segment, whereas X3 has omitted one.
