So i read a couple of articles saying even the most advanced hackers were having difficulty to hack the 360, someone had claimed to but it was a hoax, but i was forwarded this link from a friend. Its a video of a guy 'apparently' hacking a 360 to use a back-up disc of a game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=sbAQkuVcbaA

What do yous think of this? Im unsure if its real, and what is he using the PSP for?

I know you guys dont like piracy, to be honest neither do i but is there any other advantage to hacking a 360 other than for illegal copy games?

Clever indeed - If it's real, it will be a Massive blast to M$ - They more or less claimed the 360 would be un-hackable... And if it's done by using a PSP, that has to be up for the "Sarcasm of the Year" award..

I hope it's real, I really do !...

So what is going to happen on the 28th?

Are they going to unleash a major hacking spree? Bring down everyone?

Playing imports...not that important for Xbox360 as for japanese consoles, but still... the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer looks great so far for example and the japanese game will release at least 6 months earlier I guess...

I don't know if it's real, but the X360 will be easier to hack than the PS3 just because it uses DVD as a media. I think it's just a matter of time before the first modchips appear.

Well I'm no pro concerning computer & hack ... still I think it is no matter of the media... the architecture of the CPU and the complexity of the secure systems... true,
making a copy of a blue ray will be hard/expensive at the beginning, but there are obviously other ways to get to your data, hd for example.... again only if you want to play illegal copies, I just want to play imported games... if the PS3 is region code free I couldn't care less about a chip.....

I dont think its real, a better demonstation would have been more believable. but if it real them MS is screwed and sony will sell more psp's. Then we could see multiple os updates for Xbox360.....

The XBOX 360 is sold at a small loss with the profit gained almost exclusively from the sale of games, if you could hack a 360 to run Linux you would essentially be getting a fairly powerful computer for a very good pice.

It can be done with the original XBOX so it's only a matter of time before linux appears on the 360.

There's no reason to believe it's fake. You know it's only a matter of time before a new "format" is hacked. Nothing is safe for long. Same thing will happen to PS3, Revolution, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.. they'll all be hacked in no time, regardless of the millions spent on "protection".

I do find it laughingly ironic that it's a PSP that's the 360's weakness.. hehe.

As for the 12/28/05 thing.. my guess is that's the day when this person/group/whatever will be releasing that PSP program online. I imagine you download it onto your PSP, connect it up, and away you go. No modchip required.

Spong: First Xbox 360 Modchip 'Within Weeks' ?
>> This news/rumor is coming from Spong.com so take it with a grain of salt:

From what we have been able to gather, the first mod-chips for the 360 will be available within a month. Speaking to us under terms of anonymity, one source close to the research and development of some well known current-generation chips said, "We've been seeing partial success from some corners [in China] though nothing that could go on sale yet." This paints a dark picture of the console industry and the aggressive blight it suffers. "Everyone is working on a full-functioning 'do everything' chip that will take apart the 360 and let users do what they will, though we expect a first-generation bypass device that will allow back-ups within weeks. The first on the market is likely to be complex and might not be particularly good, though that's just a stopgap before real chips become available."

There is some hope for Microsoft however, "Everyone is finding it difficult [to make the chips work correctly] as Microsoft's security is the best we've seen to date for a disc-system. If it weren't for the fact that DVD is used, it's likely that further development wouldn't have been worth anyone's time."

Totally agreed, it's just full of "**** for microsoft to say Xbox 360 is unhackable 👎

seems fake to me. All i seen is the opening video to perfect dark. I didnt see him play a game. How hard is it to record the opening video for a game.

Given the time every piece of console hardware will be able to be hacked im sure...its just how long the manufacturers can prolonge this is the question...

Hack Proof - Put no screws on the box!!

It's fake.

We proved this a while ago on FC.com.

Skate-Zilla
1. The PSP is Linked to the PC About 3 Feet Behind it,
2. When the TV Flashes the Cammand Lines that Appeared to be on the PSP,
------- 1. The Time Index/ Telecine PAtter Jumps on the Videos Telecine Sequence, Signifying that its been Edited
------- 2. The Camera Jumps when the Screen Changes and then Jumps Back when it changes Back to the dashboard, Meaning He Tried to Just add the Footage, and Edited it very poorly

3. After Inserting the CD-RW, and before the MSGS Intro Video, the Screen of the TV Jumps Again and the Video Telecine frame pattern changes Abruptly again, Meaning... you guessed it.. EDITED... hmm.. i can get a show of my putting a CDRW in and cut to after i put in a Licensed Disc then cut back too..

4. Late in the Video After He Brings up the Guide, the Frame Telecine Pattern Changes Yet again, and Guess What, when he goes to show the CD Tray on the Screen The Disc Name is Different from the Original Name.. meaning, his dumb ass didnt have the common sense to use the same CD-RW in the second shot that he did in the first..

All In all.. when looking at the telecine pattern (Which Only Changes When You EDIT the Source), There was 9 Cuts, 8 of them Significant Pattern Changes, 1 of them a slight shift meaning he deleted a few frames to hide something..

This Overall was a Shi-tty editing job by someone that has no idea what they are doing,

He was delibertly moving the camera around so people wouldnt see the edit cuts (screen jumps)... but the Telecine pattern never lies...

Look at where his dumb ass uploaded it... haha..
