Why not a thread to talk and ask questions about all the 360 peripherals?

Ill start it off...

I just got a 360 Premium that comes with a wireless controller. I had a wireless controller for Xbox and I didnt like it, the lag was noticeable and annoying, and since I always stuck with the wired Controller S.

Is this something I will notice with the 360 controller? Whenever I get around to buying extra controllers Im sure I will get at least 1 wired controller, but it would be nice to know if the wireless plays just as good. If it is, then its worth the extra few bucks to lose the wire.

NO lag at all :) In fact, I say this rivals even the mighty WaveBird wireless controller, with the exclusion of battery life :)

I love it:)

I have one very little noticeable trouble with the wireless. For DOA4 when pressing buttons rapidly it doesnt pick up all the buttons I press. But for Need for speed game it works just fine. But problem is resolved when I have the charger attached to it.

You have a 360?!! :scared:
Do you have a gamertag?

You will have no lag whatsoever. :)
I agree wireless has improved a long way since the last year and the year before that. On most mouses and other joypads you still do see lag, but it is improving for the good of the market.

That means it's probably a power issue. The controller on battery power alone is probably limited in how many commands in can send in a certain time period, in order to save power. i.e. no more than ten commands per second or something like that, which can be surpassed by most decent gamers, especially in fighting games, which are traditionally "button-mashers" in that they require LOTS of input, especially by masters.

However, when hooked up a full power source, it works.. limitation removed, since power is no longer an issue.

That's my guess, anyway. :) Hopefully it's something they can work out over time as they tweak the system during it's life.

Yea, must be. I've been around quite a few xbox forums the past few months and this was never an issue with anyone.

Thanks for the replies, good to know the wireless wont be a problem for my racing and fps games.

Check out this faceplate I just picked up

What do you all reckon is the best priced USB keyboard that works with a 360. Because it gets a bit tad boring using the joypad to type song names in, and also typing messages to someone by PM.

Im pretty sure any USB keyboard will work, maybe check and see if you have one at your house already :D I would say if you had to buy one just get the cheapest one you can, because the only place you can use it is in the menus (aka not in any games)

Now that makes a whole lota sence. 👍 👍
All and all I love the controllers of the 360. Pretty funny that I told my self during the early days of PS2 that I would never be a fan of xbox. Blah my mind has changed. :dopey:

Can someone explain why my 20GB HDD has only 14GB's? I noticed this when I bought my 360 I just only thought to ask now.
I've read people ask this on other forums but I'm not sure what the consensus was. Maybe I should ask Microsoft direct?

The 360 comes preloaded with music(which sucks),and 4 videos that probably take up almost 6gb's I erased alot of them though. One thing that makes me mad though is that you cannot copy music onto your 360 with an Ipod. But I cracked out a bunch of my CD's/ :) I don't know if anyone knows this but how long does the battery life of the controller last?

my first set of batteries survived about a week of heavy playing (5-7 hours a night). i bought a second wired controller and have been using that instead recently, saving the wireless in case someone wants to play with me.

not sure what the deal is with the HD although I have seen that mentioned before. I have about 10 cds copied to the HD now and a few arcade games and demos, Ill try to check how much space I have tonight.

The Hd space used is for page files and such, as well as the core OS. Your 80GB drive at home doens't still have 80GB free whn you load XP does it? ;)

Microsoft has said that they plan on selling HDs that contain extra space for the hardcore 360 fan... When that will happen, I dunno...

I havent had the chance to use the wireless pad on the 360 yet, as I dont have one to play with (the 360 that is)... I use a Logitec wireless pad on my XBOX and it works great, but sometimes when I am playing Forza or GT2, the lag is somewhat noticeable when in a tight spot in a race...

The only add-on to really "worry" about is the external HD-DVD drive that will probably come out later this summer. With full HD-DVD players selling in the $400-500 range, Moore said that the external drive could retail for hundreds less in his CES interview with Gamespot.com...

Hopefully with the third 360 plant opening soon (I think next week or shortly thereafter), the slow trickle of 360s should eventually turn into shelved units in the US and Europe... If you really want one you could go to Japan, but then you have to deal with encoded crap... BOOOO!

Your controller will let you know when its getting close to dead, the lights on it will start blinking on it when it is about an hour away. And you can always check your battery status by pressing your guide button and looking in the upper left hand of the screen, there should be a battery indicator there.

This is a good thread since I was wondering the same thing. When I rented the 360 it didnt have the wireless controllers.
Now that I know the wireless controllers are good I will probably get them.. How long do the batteries last? OOps I looked up again and it sais 30-35 hours

I wanna know if they have had any plans about selling "blank" 360 faceplates that you can customise yourself, if it be with a Sharpie or a printable skin similar to what you can do with your iPod.

I imagine its only a matter of time before something along those lines is done. I know sites where you can buy vinyls for your 360 are in the works to where you can submit your own image and they will make the vinyl for you. I dont know where, I have just heard about it.

On another note, IGN just did a review on the re-released Mad Catz controller for the 360, and overall gave it higher marks than the MS wired controller, and not just because of its cheaper cost. go on over to http://gear.ign.com/articles/683/683344p1.html and check it out.

Thats hard to believe the Mad Cats controller got a better review. I have bought a couple of those for the weekends lan parties then I usually return them. Most of the time they are not good at all. However if they have a better review and they are cheaper then its definetly worth looking into when the time comes. 👍

Since this thread is about accessories. How do you like your headsets so far? What brand do you have? I know there are some terrible headsets for the regular xbox so hopefully they have some more comfortable ones for the 360.

well the headset that comes with the 360 is very good. And extremely comfortable. I often forget about it. Puts on no presure on the ear, its not as bugging as the xbox model. the mic is pretty good considering. All its missing is it being wireless ;)

the standard 360 headset is pretty good, its the only one I have where I can turn it off or adjust the volume while playing 360 games, But its messing up my hair! Thats my only complaint about it.

My Plantronics "Halo 2" headset still works great, although I have to put up with no muting and no volume control, which sucks when I have to set the tv at a low volume and some loudmouth cant shut his mouth up on live. I usually resort to unplugging the mic at that time.

I noticed the 360's have the "breakaway" cables like the xbox did. I should try plugging in a controller S and see what happens.

I like the new headset. I think its great. Its taken a beating from being on the floor and smashed on my bed numerous times. It has a cool swivel and a bendable mouth piece. I like it more than the old one and definitely more durable.

Already tried... doesnt work :(

Ive been using my cell phone's headseat since I accidentally stepped on my XBL headset... The good part of it still works, but I cant say the same for the part that holds the earpiece next to my head.
