XBOX broke... how to transfer xbox live account to new xbox?!?!?!?!

Ok so my xbox blew a while ago and im getting a new xbox replacement for free so now I would like XBOX LIVE back. My old xbox cant turn on so theres no way of getting it through memory card. I was thinking of swapping hdds but that could create problems once trying to log into xbox live.

I have 3months left of xbox live so I want to use those up instead of paying $60 for 1 more year...

can you guys help me out or direct me to what I can do please?

Can't you just log in with the same user info on the new xbox?

the 360 has a thing where if you had XBL on an XBOX. It recovers your gamertag and all that.
