I don't own an Xbox but I saw this in another forum.

Xbox Live Hacked 18/10/2011
Today my Xbox Live account was hacked and the person who hacked my account purchased 10,000 MS points (£90 Worth) and purchased 3,000 MS points worth of Fifa 12 DLC.

I'm warning you because after investigating it turns out that LulzSec have hacked Xbox Live and exposed 60,000 (Possibly More) Xbox Live accounts.

This Report seems to verify what happened to me where the effected people have Fifa 11/12 items purchased on their accounts.

I've informed Microsoft and cancelled my Credit Card.

I'd advice everybody with an Xbox Live account to immediately change their Windows Live ID password and hope they don't hack you too.

I would take this seriously, the guy that posted (ICE) is to be believed, he's a community manager working for a pretty important UK games developer. He wouldn't be joking, the consequences would be nasty for him and the company he works for.

Well we all knew Live has a flaw just not as big as PSN but just needed the right "Group" to do it. Yay now all those PS players that went to Xbox now are coming back to PS :)

Edit: “We do not have any evidence the Xbox LIVE service has been compromised. We take the security of our service seriously and work on an ongoing basis to improve it against evolving threats. However, a limited number of members have contacted us regarding unauthorized access to their accounts by outside individuals. We are working with our impacted members directly to resolve any unauthorized changes to their accounts. As always, we highly recommend our members follow the Xbox LIVE Account Security guidance provided at www.xbox.com/security to protect your account.”

That is from Microsoft, and According to them it has happened since the 14th of October.

It was 5 days ago just that Microsoft just put out the statement today I guess. So either way Both systems like to "wait" until they tell the people that they might of been hacked...

I seldom play Xbox, and I'm really happy right now because I don't have any credit cards or MS points on my account, plus now all the Xbox fanboys making fun of the Sony hacking can experience it firsthand.

That's what I was thinking, the tables have turned. :p

Yeah I confirm my xbox live account got hacked and they charged up like $136 about a month ago. I still have not received a refund from M$ after multiple phone calls. Should've just canceled through my bank. Their customer service is beyond terrible.

Also I know for a fact I never gave my account info out ever. Had to have been hacked on their end

Bought my XBox live gold subscription through Amazon, paid for at a convenience store. The PSN fiasco taught me to be more careful this time round.

Its a good thing I have PSN & Xbox Live

Yes if you get hacked in one account you can allways turn to the other :dopey:

I would never get hacked - I never had a credit card for online payments I allways use a virtual credit card valid for one single payment only... I create the card and pay and thats it...

Is this the green light for all Playstation people to be affrontive back at all the xbox people who were loudmouthing about how hacks could only happen to Sony?

I gave M$ one last chance this morning to make things right and they still gave me the run around so called up my bank and got my money back. Very disappointed in M$ for not handling my situation properly. 👎

They lucky I got lots of games on my xbox but they won't have my credit card info anymore.

Hey guys,

I know the last post was on October 21 2011, how ever yesterday (November 23, 2011) my friend was hacked and charged for over 70 USD in Microsoft Points. The M.O was the same, they charged about 6,000 Microsoft Points all on FIFA 12. I'd suggest everyone to check their accounts some more, and watch over them.

He had his accounted locked for 25 days while the investigation is launched. Once the investigation is finished he will be allowed back onto it. So for now, no SR3 for us... Well him.

wtf!! my buddies account got hacked a couple months back and the hacker bought the same amount and used it for that soccer game too.

wtf?

Also their customer service does suck, they keep giving my buddy the run around

One reader on the MCV online site, Ben Furfie who is the Editor, Arabian Computer News, however, points out that, "There seems to be some confusion about the source of the hack, which may explain The Sun's -- and it's readers' -- confusion about those claiming to have been hacked.

"As far as I understood, there was a recent hack that affected EA servers, including those on Xbox Live, which resulted in those taking over users' Xbox Live accounts spending large amounts of XBL points on FIFA Content Packs. However, that is not the same as Xbox Live being hacked. It's an issue with EA's servers, and Microsoft should be directing the blame at EA, if indeed it proves to be true that this is where the confusion is arising."
Who knew..
