Hey guys, we recently got a 34 inch wide screen HD sony wega TV and I was gonna go pick up the AV pack from Microsoft so I can take advantage of the TVs HD Capabilities on the Xbox but then I started reading up on these Monster Cables.

The AV Pack from Microsoft only costs 40 bucks, but the special monster cables cost a whoppin 90! The only difference is that the monster cables claim to "enhance" my picture and sound quality.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Do you think I will notice 50 dollar difference from the AV pack to the Monster Cable?

The HD is supposed to be supported first by:

Xbox setting > video > TV type > widescreen/HD, and the wires should do just fine. As for sound, that has a LOT to do with the type of setup you have and the speakers you're using. If you have surroundsound it's generally safer to go with the same brand speakers as the TV, for best compatibility and sound to match it. I've used the monster cables, which are found everywhere with hugely varying prices btw, but I haven't really noticed a difference in anything. The sound perhaps a little, but that also has to do with the wires of the speakers and all that. In general I'd say the $90 isn't worth it, but if you can find them for about $40 then go for it.

Go with the microsoft cables, and get a good monster cable fiber-optical (there's a slot for one that comes with the High definition AV pack).

You'll save yourself 50 bucks. The monster cables are better quality, but you won't notice unless you have a very serious set up. If that were the case, 50 dollars more is a drop in the bucket.

There's really no way to enhance a signal unless some kind of electronics are involved. Cables alone won't do any enhanement. If anything, degradation occurs for cables of a lesser sort and that is probably why the Monster cables are so expensive (little or no degredation) compared with the Microsoft cables.
Stick with the MicroSoft cabling.
