Been quite a while since this has happened but there are currently issues with xboxlive right now. Hopefully by tonight it is resolved.
Mainly the 360.

It’s come to our attention that some of you are seeing a black screen when attempting to launch games and applications. Hang in there, Xbox members, we’re on it! Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve this issue. We’ll update you again as soon as we have more information.

Another suggestion
1). Dashboard and go into system settings.
2). Disable any profile from auto sign in.
3). Power down the xbox and restart.
4). Launch the game... It should work now.. Sign into your xbl gamer tag
