I felt quite pi***d when I found out that the chromline cars are only available for japanese gt5 players through the japanese psn shop.

However as I don't give up that easily I tried to get them. Not successfully yet but I'll find a way.

However what I did found out is that if you are able to set the game language to japanese you can get them without problem. As i have the UK version it's not possible for me yet (I'm working on that too)

How to get the cars on your ps3 (not in the game yet, as I said I'm working on that):

Make a psn account for japan. That's quite tricky because the only language available for doing that is japanese, however if you do it on the pc open up another browser (it's not possible doing this just with another tab, because this will lead to problems) and make the same with a language you can read, because the input fields are the same.

Make a new ps3 user and put in the account data then go to the psn store and download the cars. That's also quite tricky because all is written in japanese, however on the left hand side the second button from the top is the newest stuff, so just go there and look for the gt5 symbol.

Download the cars onto your ps3 and change language to japanese + the timezone to tokyo. If you are able to do that my guess is that the cars will show up in the game.

For all people who can't change the language, I'm working on that, however do download the cars if you want them, because they won't stay on the store forever and if you have them on your ps3 you can still get as soon as a solution for this problem is found.

Any suggestions of how to get the cars if you can't change the game language to japanese are appreciated.
 
Kind of useless to go through all that when the Chromeline cars are non-transferable. I'm pretty sure these will be like the ones we get with the CE, you can't gift them...

But then again, who knows..
 
There's more to life than trying to get a free video game car.. you can attain them all in the game quite easily anyway.. they just aren't 'chrome' ................
 
Are you certain it's locked to the disk? That seems odd. Not disagreeing, just asking for confirmation. Where did you read this?

I too would like this gift. While I'm certainly not pissed about not getting them, I do feel it is unfair to the fans from other areas around the world.
 
There are two solutions to this:

First: Kaz gives NA/EU players the cars too (obvious answer).

Or

Second: We get a hacker to pull the car pack off his/her PS3, find the codes/signatures that region lock it to only the Japanese blue-rays and find a way to remove those signatures or insert a signature that tells it to not check it, then host it for everyone else to download and put on their PS3.

The latter is most likely NEVER going to happen, but w/e, 3 free cars is no big deal, though I would like the chromeline XJ-13 as a collectible.

I wonder if us Americans are going to get a free something then? EU got the Jag, Japanese got the pack, we get ??? then? Unless GT Academy was our gift.....(which isn't all that cool).
 
Or Three: you got/get the LE copy of GT5 and got them anyway. Ever stop to think that the Chromeline cars may never have been available to Japan before?
 
ok let me make this easier to understand. Psn used to update on thursdays in america right. japan is a day ahead of us because the international date line. EU and US swiched to Tuesday update while AU and other countries are still on Thursday updates. If US was still on Thursday updates we would have the cars now. Its just a cowinkydink that the friday update for japan falls on christmas eve. The download is available till the 1st of January or something. Our US update is on Tuesday. Wait till then to see if PD screwed us.
 
Most, if not all folks in NA paid to get the chromeline cars as part of the CE, why should you get it for free?

I don't even get why chrome line cars should be available for us. Some people paid extra for those and it's them who's getting screwed. I wouldn't mind that we don't get any cars - we got the game, let's go race?
 
I have the CE and Chromeline Cars, as well as the stealth Maclaren F1 and Gamestop Nascar.

I would not feel very good about you getting chromeline cars for nothing.
That is all.

screw you buddy im not wasting money for some dum virtual cars............you got the CE edition good for you.......but others would like free if not i will race until i get them with my own virtual money.

Doesn't this qualifying as abusive language or whatever according to the AUP? Either way, you, sir, need to sit down, take a few deep breathes, get some nice hot cocoa and chill out. Making demands like this in a forum isn't going to do anything. It probably won't even calm you down 'cause people are just going to tell you to chill out, which will just frustrate you. If you're irritated with the game, take a break from it. I mean, I've seen 4 people on my friends list on PSN playing GT5, and I've had 12 people on there at the same time. Seems like everyone else is taking time off from GT5 for a little bit. You might do the same.
 
Are people still going on about the cars not being available? I've driven two of the three cars and none of them seem to be that great when compared to the other cars most of us have in our garage anyways.

Anyways as the post a few above me stated, don't give out the CE cars to everyone because then what does the CE version become if one part of buying it for extra cash was the cars?

But you paid real money to get GT5 which has these "dumb virtual cars" ;)

Love all these guys demanding freebies. It's like watching kids throw a tantrum when there mommy says they cannot have that toy.
 
Those chromeline cars are only for the US Collectors Editions.

You can't get them.

We, the people who bought the collectors edition, paid 40 bucks extra for it to be exclusive.

Yea but don't crash them up and pay a few hundred thousand for them because the chromeline's repairs are only 500 credits always.
 
The chromeline cars shouldn't be given to people who didn't buy the extras. I didn't and to be honest I don't care if I get them or not.

If people did this, then they made a huge mistake. I'm glad i bought the CE for the Apex book and the Die Cast GT-R. The Chrome Line cars were a bonus.

Nope. I bought it for the Apex book, the keychain and the GT-R die-cast, not the Chrome cars.
 
I've long since given up on the notion that CE DLC bonuses remain exclusive. It's been proven time and time again that those bonuses will eventually become available as gifts or more often, as DLC purchases.

And I say this as someone who is a sucker for CEs. The only reason I did not purchase the CE of GT5 was that I did not personally see the value in the extra cost. Let me rephrase, I could see the value, but was not interested in it.

I've little interest in model cars, and that's the highlight of the CE. The guide is fantastic, though not essential, and the keychain... well, certainly not something that I care that much about.

The reason I say this is because we've got a lot of people here getting their panties in a knot (for lack of a better expression) over cars that were not meant to separate CE owners from regular owners, as is obvious from the fact that they are now being given away.

I think it's unjustified to call those who have rationally expressed disappointment in this being a Japan-only promotion as kids throwing tantrums. Well, except for that one guy... he kinda lost it there.

If this promotion was to give a little something back to the fans who've supported the game, I believe it should have been world-wide. I feel the same when a promotion is US only (I'm Canadian).

I feel it shelters the company from the rest of the fans around the world.

Am I going to be ticked that I cannot get these cars? Of course not. It's really not that big a deal. Though when I first heard of the promotion and talked about it with my youngest (who also plays GT5 as religiously as me), we were both very psyched.

Again, it's just a little disappointing, that's all.
 
aww man i was looking forward to getting the jaguar for the historic race ..

and no i didnt buy collectors edition for chrome line cars
i bought it because its collectors edition
