Check it out, I'm featured in a Japanese car mag! Anyway, a couple months back, a camera crew from Dressup-Car magazine came to our local touge. I happenned to be there, and had some pics taken of my car! Well, the issue's finally out, and here my car is. It's dark, it's raining, but it's clearly my car! Now I just need to figure out what it says....

Uh huh, sure...

Thats why there is a Japanese license plate on the car... when you are from LA... uh huh... sure...

What, don't believe it? It's my car. I can link you the whole article over PM. It's made quite clear, in huge letters, that it's in "USA", near "LA". And look back through the silvia thread and the member cars threads, you'll see several pics of this car.

Additionally, here's my CarDomain http://www.cardomain.com/id/shin_kudo

Car's in the shop right now, (as mentioned in my sig), I'll take a "GTP ROCKS!" pic, with milk and bread even, if so desired.

And to the second poster, if you knew anything about Japanese plates, you'd see that that is clearly a CA plate. Japanese plates have a Kanji and then several numbers. That says 3KJB166, my license plate number.

Additionally, look at the mirror, it's tilted towards the US driver's side, look at the signals, they're clear instead of the JDM orange, look at the Nissan emblem on the hood, that's USDM only, and look at the sunken 4 lug wheels. (JDM S14s are 5 lug)

It basically says "will not be defeated by rain or fog" in the headline. And it goes on to how they were touched by your aspiration(in the rain & fog). I like how they end it by "don't get plastered". They also named your car silvia, not 240sx. Is that really your car? It's nice, I especially like the color.

That's not a Japanese plate. It does look Californian.

Got another opinon on the translation, together, here's what it seems to say.

Will not be defeated by rain! Will not be defeated by fog!

We were impressed at the strength of the driver's will and his dedication! (when he continued to run in the horrible weather. I was one of very few who did)

But he should be careful, or he may catch a wall! (Translations on this varied, from saying he may get plastered on a well to saying he may get hooked. Catching a wall seemed like a good compromise.)"

Sorry about the plate confusion.. it looked like Kanji cause of the low quality... honest to god it did. I guess I shoulda thought about the plate size.. >_< my bad

we use the same word over here in the US. Because we drive a nearly equal mix of coastal roads, mountain passes, ridge roads, and canyons, Touge is the word we've adopted to refer to all the locations in which we run the roads.

It actually stems back to before it really became big, though. Because a large portion of the current US movement was started in the early 90s by returning servicemen (who learned drft and touge when stationed J-side), the term Touge has been with us for quite a long time. The influences of Option videos, and, yes, Initial D, in the fledgeling days of the sport, cemented the term. So many of the really serious guys, those in their 30s and 40s, call the roads the touge, and most of the newer, younger, drivers follow suit.

Oh I see, so you don't keep it to the track? I respect you and your car, but your choice to run on the roads is a bad one 👎

To each their own I guess.

Actually, I'm shifting focus to track in the near future. I'm going to be at every track event and AutoX that'll have me within 200 miles, funds providing.

However, true track events are few and far between, and I need to keep up my driving in between them. That's why I run the touge. It's the closest I can get to a track without waiting a month and shelling out 150 bucks for a couple runs.

Well, I can't say I agree with racing on public roads, but congrats on getting into the mag! I've always liked your Silvia, very nice car!

Congrats!

Looks like you're featured along with 5 other cars on that one page you uploaded.

Yeah, all in all, about 10 of us made it into the mag. Hovever, through the course of the evening, there were about 100 cars up there (not all at once), so it's still a pretty big deal to get in.

To those who have an issue with driving on the street, I should mention that these events, while not official, are sanctioned by the participants. Run groups and traffic are managed at both ends, and the road is effectively closed to traffic. (Which has no reason to be there, anyway, the road doesn't go anywhere.

Additionally, actual "racing" is extremely rare. Usually, the most we'll have is a couple cars that decide spur of the moment to see who's fastest. After a run or two, everyone knows who is fastest, and groups are organized with the fastest up front, slowest back, to minimize interference.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice. Do you know the guy who owns the FC3S? Also, whats with the 240 missing his fender? Some guy @ my school has a white 240SX. Pretty nice, although he's not terribly into cars so i dont think hes aware of the legend hes driving :scared: .

OK ok, I'll accept that it is his car.

I guess I just saw the name... Takumi Fujiwara.. and concluded fanboy.. cause it is a fanboy kinda name. That, and saying you were hanging at the local touge with the race group I'm in would just get you laughed at... so it seemed like more fanboyism.

The License thing.. yeah, I was tired, and I know I made a jack ass outta myself with it :dunce:

Yeah, I hate the name I use here. I thought Initial D was awesome when I signed up back in April of '02, back when it was still somewhat underground.

The whole local touge thing was simply a way of being as vague as possible with the location.

I know the black FC's driver, but I always forget his name.

I can tell you that the silver FD is Russel, see that suspension? $8000! The black FC's passenger is Raoul, the gold S13 with the guy crouching in front of it, that's my friend Vadim, above him is Joe with the AE86. The red S13 with 15 face is JR.

I know quite a few of the other guys, too, but not by name. As I recall, that messed up S13 had been in an accident several nights previously.

oh i thought youd have the traffic under control, nice. Sounds like you have lots of fun with your car and it seems legal and safe, thats the best way.

Legal... Well, not really. More like, as long as we're up there and not on the street, the cops don't care.

Safe... well, from other cars, yes. Doesn't stop people from flying off cliffs or into walls, though....
