Just got the word - My package containing not one, but two, 8800GTS 512Mb has arrived (-: Goodbye 7900GTX and hello DX10 (Vista still blows btw. - Hopefully SP1 will fix all my BSODs)

Pictures when I get home - And fingers crossed my PSU can handle it !...

Damn, lucky bastard, I got the same card and it wouldn't fit in my computer.

More SLI brothers, muwaahaahahaha! We should start a SLI club. ;)

 Proof is in the numbers....

The only problem I have with SLI is I needed the electrical company to install a new transformer outside my house. :D

Yeah, PG&E hates the guy who's running a 1.35Kw PSU in his system with 3 8800GTX's in tri-SLI.

My 500W seems so tiny by todays standards, at least its 80+ cert.

Pics - Finally... Can you effing believe the cards doesn't come with the PCI-E power adapter thingy. So one card only until sunday :-| (We're away for the weekend)

Mmmm.. Boxes are cool :-)

That's a lot of GPU Power !...

And a nice sign for the door (Currently hanging on the bedroom door)

One in and running.

Purely cosmetical - Notice the lack of power connecter.

First run gave a 11107 in 3DMark2006 build 1.10

And apologies for the crappy pictures - Cellphones are made of evil.

You just couldn't wait for the 9800GX2, could you?

What is the rest of your set-up?

Athlon64 X2 6400+ Black Edition
2Gb DDR2 800Mhz
2 x 75Gb 10000rpm Raptors (OSs and Appz)
2 x 250Gb WD 7200rpm (Storage)

Nothing special really.. Don't know if my motherboard can handle the new Quad Core AMDs - Fingers crossed it can !..

Nice video card. Certainly kills the 8600M GT on my notebook.

You can protein fold on any new ATi graphics card, up to an array of four cards in addition to a conventional (usually) quad-core processor.

Nice setup Flerbizky, but that's not a graphics card, this is a graphics card. :sly:

Note the handle on the end.

It's so big I had to move my hard drives. :ouch:

I'll run 3D mark in a minute and see how it fares.

Nope, just a plain old boring 8800GTX. I thought my X1900XT was big. :scared: The handle does make it very easy to manouver inside the case, once you've routed all the cables around it.

It mustered 11187 3D marks at 1280*1024. :D

Handles are just for our bothers across the ocean. That way they can use two hands to put the card in. :)

Oddly enough, both my 8800GTX cards do not have handles, but I can totally sympathies, I thought my two X1900XTX cards were huge, but these cards are monsters.

Your CPU fan is orientated wrong. It's supposed to pull in air from the front of the case and push it out the back. I have the same HSF.

Good point.

11xxx is not a good score for 3dmark06 with that setup. Not that it matters, because it's a purely synthetic benchmark. I suspect your CPU is holding you back though.

The Phenoms are AM2+ socket

this will not work in a AM2 socket. It will fit, but not work

Incorrect - http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/12/26/phenom_motherboards/

Tomshardware
Hence AMD adjusted its product strategy and points at the value of the Phenom processor together with the AMD790 chipset (Spider platform) as well as Phenom being an excellent upgrade option for the majority of socket AM2 systems on the market.

They're not very succesful though - But if I have to change mobo as well as CPU, it's hardly going to break the household economy...

I suspected so, but they way the clip is oriented, it's the only way it'll fit.

Guess I'll have a closer look again, see if it's possible to rotate the socket (or I completely missed something....)

And my 8800GTS made 11107 in the same resolution - While using 30% less power :-P

there should be room to fit the clasp in between the heat pipes.

Why do you need two video cards? What can you do with two that you cannot with one? Do I need two? I don't play video games, but want HDTV and later BD movies on my PC to my 46" HDTV set. I also want to capture and record HD to a BD-R from various HD-HDD devices.

I was told I would need a great video card and HD capture card like a Blackmagic.

So, what's the deal with two video cards?

More GPU power for gaming - That's it basically. For displaying 1080p, be it on a 32" or a 46" or 200" display, you can get away with a 8600GT - And probably as low as 8500GT. I'm using a 8600GT in my HTPC, plays BD / HDDVD in all it's glory with no issues whatsoever..

SLI = Gaming Power..

As for capturing HD, haven't got a clue...

I have the same ones :) GTS is best when SLI and worth money.
All of my games run very smoothly at top settings.. Except Crisis or Company Of Heroes. When I play those games on EXTREME settings I have frame issues, slowdowns. But on High Settings both games run really smooth, these are best looking games I think and require lots of memory and what not :).

Oh and I wish SLI would be more efficient when enabled.

The bad news are, I hear new DX10.1 will come out, and that our cards won't support till later on. Only the 9 series I hear..

I say DX10.1 is irrelevant - It's a small set of updates like Shaders 4.1 instead of 4... I betting my money on DX10 being the standard until DX11 arrives.

True, I agree. I bet DX11 will blow it away. Sure DX10 have some neat ideas and improvements but I don't thinks that it took games to whole new LEVEL. DX11 now we're talking close to reality gaming.
