For those who didn't know, I'm in a little band called Blue Onion. We have been playing originals and covers for about three years now. Well this summer, we finally got hired as a headliner band on a huge stage at a three day event (details at www.rockintherivers.com).

I just got a copy of what the poster will look like, so I thought I'd share my excitement. :D:D:D:D

Still cool man!

Teeny, yes....but it will be a big poster. :D And as pointed out by Tom, our font size is almost as big as Marshall Tucker! :D

If you wonna see teeny, check out the regional bands. We were stuck down there last year... ;)

Cool!

Got a drummer yet?

And I see my family is joining you there!

Congrats Pako! Now that's an accomplishment.

So where can I pick up a CD of the band?

AO

Congrats and ya I want a CD to. Where can I buy one.

Hey, playing out is what it's all about. WTG Pako! That's some list of people you're sharing the stage with.

I'd Love To Change The World is the first song I learned to play on the electric guitar, but I could never touch Alvin Lee's speed guitar solos.

Thanks for the support and the interest guys. I normally wouldn't try and push the CD sales here, but since you guys are inquiring about it, they can be purchased off our website. www.blueonion.net

Just go to the "Merchandise" link, and it should be pretty self explanitory. I will warn you that the current CD is a couple of years old, we've had some good responses from it, but on a personal level, I know that we play those songs a lot better now.

Anyhow, there's also mp3's that you can download off of our site of some "Live" stuff of originals not currently on CD as well as www.mp3.com host's almost the entire CD in 128kb format.

Thanks again, I know we (the band) are really excited about this oppertunity and look forward to a summer full of music ( current gig listings at www.blueonion.net/when.html )

Pako, first off. My wife went to Moanaloa High school back in the early '80's
Secondly, I listened to one of your tunes on the Mp3 download. You guys kick it. Montana seems to be one VERY rockin' place with you guys there.
You and the drummer are very tight. Love the sound.
I play rhythm guitar in the praise and worship band at church and I'm not happy unless I can lock in with the drummer.

Another thing we have in common. I never knew you were a guitar player.
Me, you, Pako, and Peter Egan of R & T magazine. That puts us in pretty heady company.

Wow, really....is there any other life parallels that you and have? Moanalua? That's just too trippy! It was because of the orchestra program that got me into Bass in the first place. My parents didn't want me to go to Radford High, so I got a district acception to goto Moanalua, and the only thing they had to offer was Orchestra. I originally wanted to play AltoSax, but if I had to play in orchestra, it was going to be an instrument I could continue to play outside of the Classical Music Genra.

I was asked to play in the worship team here, but I had to pass up on the oppertunity until this summer's over, but starting in late August, I've committed to a full time position there. Until then, I'll just be the trusty backup bassist. :)

This just in today:

June 28th At Western Montana Fairgrounds. Poison, Vince Neil, Skid Row, Battery, ZZ Top Tribute band, and last but not least, BLUE ONION.

Details to follow...

Man, you guys are just on the Monsters Of Washed-Up Rock tour! Have fun with it, Pako.

Gil, I own a 1972 Gibson L6S. Imagine a Les Paul body with two pickups, but built like a Strat - solid, painted body (no fancy finish) and a maple neck. It also has a funky 6-way pickup switch that can make it sound like anything from an SG to a Tele.

Notice that I said own it. I won't admit to being able to play it anymore. Maybe when I hit the lottery and am made of free time I'll pick it back up again.

 I know, I was thinking the same thing...

Hey man, congrats on getting to the big time  How's about giving me a free cd? ;):p

I know you guys are going to put on a great show, whenever you guys make it really big dont forget to come down south to ATL so I can watch you guys tear it up :D

, for sure... Know of anyone good with lasers and pirotechs? :D

I know what you mean. I don't play nearly as much as I would like to. I try to leave My 1980 Alvarez model 5013 Acoustic on the stand. That way I can at least just pick it up at will and do some riffing.
I'm currently working on "Take Me" by Edwin McCain. It's coming together slowly. It would be quicker if I played every day.

As for my Very Old Electric. (1960's Teisco Del Ray) My kids commandeer it every time I leave it out.:D
I found a deal on a Epiphone 335 copy. I just have to convice the boss that $420 is a good deal. It would become my "number one" for playing at church.

Nah but I could figure out how to work pyro and lasers but we both know that I shouldnt be trusted with that kind of stuff:lol:

I managed to DL 8 of the 11 songs listed on MP3.com before I had to clock in 175 office miles on the car. Got to enjoy your music for the entire ride. Needless to say, I'm impressed.

Although it seems the lead singer needs some help. I think his vocal talent only comes out in the last few words of "Patience". It's almost like he has no passion in most of the songs.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, you guys are pretty darn good. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your music.

I'm off to Dl the remaing songs.

Thanks!

AO

Glad you enjoyed (or are enjoying) our tunes. I couldn't agree with you more on the vocals...., I think we have come along way from that CD that was recorded two years ago. When I listen to the CD now, his vocals seem dry and lifeless....in comparison, a far difference from where he is now. So just like anything else, we just keep plugging along, continueing to try and improve on it. There's also some song's on their where we (drums/bass) are not tight at all, something that makes me cringe everytime I hear it... :D But anyhow, hopefully our new CD will be out soon, with all fresh material, and maybe even re-record a few from our first CD. I might suggest downloading some of our 'RAW' live recordings off of our site. The recording quality isn't as good, and the tone on the kick drum makes the hair on my neck standup, but I think if you compare Ken's vocals, you'll see some major improvements. :)

Thanks again for taking the time to check out our music.
