Hi all....

I recon that I should get myself introduced, now that I have been lurking around at GTPlanet for some time, picking up hints and other great knowledge from you clever folks.

My name is Mikael (slighty hinted in the user-name 👍), and I'm an adult man in his best age (40+), married to a beautiful and forgiving wife, and having 3 boys - aged from 5 year and up to 20+...

I am living in Denmark, located in the northern Europe (it's actually a small country on it own, and not the Capitol of Sweden or "Scandinavia" as some ppl believes :p), where I do work (more than) full time as an IT engineer/consultant.

I love to race, but hence my work and considerations to my family, I doesn't seem to find to much time to do it in.. If I'm able to get a couple of hours per week, in front of the screen for racing, then I'm lucky... :grumpy:
That, of course, affects my "race-ability", but I still do manage to get some gold-trophies from time to time in the specials and licences of GT5.. but mostly those made of silver..
Online-racing havn't I done yet in GT5, but I fear for my self-esteem once I dare myself to go "out there" with you guys and girls... :scared:

* How did you find GTPlanet?

Well... I didn't knew about GTPlanet until like a month ago, when I ran into a difficult A-spec challenge in GT5 (Historic classic car race, Cote d'Azur) and in need for some help, I turned to google, searched and came up with some threads from GTPlanet...

* When did you start playing the Gran Turismo games?

My first encounter with the GT-series was on PS2 and GT4 back in some like 2006/7-ish.. I have always liked car/racing-games, but mostly played on the Pc-platform. However, even with the limited graphics in PS2, compared to the Pc's, I was stunned by the look of GT4 and the high details to driving-experience you do get in that game...
As a fact, I didn't find valid reasons to buy a PS3 until GT5 was released, and I managed to hold that "promise" to my self, even under heavy pressure from my kids..

* Do you play with a steering wheel?

Yes, I do prefer using wheel (and a race-seat).. There is not much "realism" in controlling a fancy car using a thumbstick, joystick or just the keyboard, right?
Now I use the G27, that I bought shortly after it was released, replacing one of Logitechs first highend FFB-wheels, bought for more than 8 years ago.. Still have it, even thou it is no longer supported under Vista or Windows7.

* What other games do you enjoy?

I am mostly a "simulator"-guy... Cars and airplanes.. Wheels and yokes.. (lack of equipment is just not an option, right? :D)
On the Pc I do race-driving in SimBin's Race-series (got 'em all) and a bit in rFactor.. And then I do log my air-time in MS' Flight Simulator-series...
Also first-person shooters like CounterStrike and the now aged DeltaForce-series have been played heavily on the internet until 1½-2 years ago.

* What are you most looking forward to doing in the community, now that you're a part of this site?

I sure do hope to participate in the ongoing conversation/discussion, but also to get more acquaintant with other adult drivers, just as lousy like me, for some clean online fun racing/cruising...
(I am already following the thread "looking for bad/average adult racers" :D )

Looking forward to be and participate here, and to harvest all of your wisdom... :)

With regards,
Mikael K
