Texas Set For 300th Execution Since Death Penalty Revival
Posted: 8:52 a.m. EST March 10, 2003

LIVINGSTON, Texas -- A convicted killer in Texas could become a historical footnote Wednesday night when he's scheduled to die by injection.

DEATH PENALTY
Is It Constitutional?

Delma Banks is in line to become the 300th Texas prisoner executed since the state resumed capital punishment in 1982.

So far this year, Texas has put nine men to death. The state is on a pace to break its one-year record of 40 executions, set in 2000. Last year, 33 inmates died by lethal injection.

Texas executions make up more than one-third of all executions in the nation since 1976. That's when the death penalty ban was lifted by the U.S. Supreme Court.

I thought the Texas motto was "Hang em' High",..... whats up with this lethal injection crap?
lol. Well i think we ran out of rope.

I wonder how would it feel to receive a lethal injection....:scared:

Would your vains get so tight that blood pressure would go throught the roof making them explode internally, or it just goes straight to the heart, or is it some kind of poison.

Well i watched a tv program on it a few years ago. From what i can remember all it does is drug you up real good and then stops your heart. They inject like 2 or 3 differnt types of things in you. So i dont think it hurts them.

It's very humane. Anyone see Boomtown last night?

Well then, it is not a horrible way to go.

If I go to jail, I would want to be executed that way then:tup:

why dont they just use a high dose of pain killers (morphine), or do they allready?

its nice to see a state going in the right direction with punishment.

The last federal hanging was in the 1970's. The whole execution/burial cost something like $30 US. Isn't that cheaper? Oh wait, inflation...

Florida's catching up. Our electricity bill's been lower since they stopped using Old Sparky.

You know, Jeb never wanted to be second to big brother...

I can't wait for him to be president.

It must be a great day to be a Texan. Unless you've been convicted of jaywalking, then you could be 301.

Still hanging on 299, eh? Then again, an all-white jury of non-peers probably isn't the fairest of trials.
