probably wont go far this thread, but i felt like asking as i was curious... :odd:

dont know about some of you, but the car sounds are really lacking and dissapointing, you do get the odd cars with a pretty decent sound, but there are a lot, more importantly the sports/super cars not sounding how they should...

you reckon there be an update for this if even possible?

ive been a forza fan for awhile(will get 3 again eventually, then 4 once i get another xbox) and although some of the car sounds can be a little crap, they do sound more like what they should or can sound like depending on the car, so when i got gt5(only played this and think 2 or 3) i was really dissapointed after having some expectations...

Maybe maybe not. To answer the question it probably will. It just depends on when.

They better, that's all I can say! (for the c63 and SLS at least)

Did you not read up on V1.06? Sounds on cars have been altered and enhanced.

you will get the actual car sound if you don't add any tuning parts to the game.

this is where Kaz's games became very popular!

the fact that he has test driven most of the cars in game and recorded each aspect of the cars including engine noise. It's been a known fact about GT5 for a long time.

Whether not they have slouched is yet to be known but i feel rather happy with alot of car sounds in the game when they are totally STOCK

I think the sounds are ok. Not the best, but not the worst, either. You can definitely hear the differences when you add aftermarket parts on your car. I´m running it on a mid-class AV-receiver, so with a better unit those sound may be of higher quality, don´t know..

good point.. depends on your setup. i run mine off a surround sound system which wasnt cheap so i hear perfectly clear and great sounds...

Personally, I think there are still improvements to be had on the car sounds in the game. I race a lot of muscle cars in-game and, while the majority of them sound relatively similar to what they did IRL, the modified sounds are not exactly "up-to-par".

For example, engine upgrades 2 & 3 deal with the majority of valvetrain and compression, which will DRASTICALLY change the sound of the motor - both at idle and WOT. The exhaust will also change the sound, but only the note coming from the tailpipe and slight resonance in the cabin of the car.

Anyone who knows about racing engines knows that they're tuned for high RPMs(most - not all), and are very choppy at idle; considering the idle is set lower than 2k RPM. Some cars in this game have gotten this correct, such as the trans-cammer and various racecars, but others have simply gone without.

Most likely nothing will be changed; I'm only pointing out the flaws. I'll have to hope that PD will nail it correctly in GT6.

Yeah you have a great point with the race cars reving pretty low :P
just not right at all but i'm not that observant lol

I'm not saying you have but alot of people seem like they go out there way to find flaws sometimes which is a bit annoying but the sounds could be enhanced more but im really happy!

would love to hear my RX7, tuned until the balls are screwed up, give that loud noise like its ticking over like a harley lol.. its never a constant noise!

i have heard a lot of the cars in stock form(well no engine mods mainly) and although some are nice, some are crap, not to say i cant tolerate them or anything, have no choice either way, just reckon they can be improved...

i want to actually hear the v10(or close to it) from my gallardo, stock or modified and the v12 in the countach, the countach sounds terrible when tuned, just like some small FF car, but the gallardo sounds better.. i also would like to hear a sort of boxer rumble from the impreza's... just to name 3 cars i own..

im likely asking much of PD and nothing will probably be done, just be nice if some of the cars didnt sound nearly identical once tuned, supercars shouldnt be sounding similar to say a hatchback lol..

apart from that and now the mess up with the gift system(1 car per day) i do enjoy the game :)..

the dodge viper gts sounded alot better on high revs after the patch with tune and stock.
and v8 on many cars have been improved. but not dodge challenger 08' :@

Sorry for this but you did say get another xbox, don't tell me it broke.
Again sorry.

I don't expect much from PD in this regard. The stock sounds on most cars are decent, just really synthesized sounding. Tuned cars usually sound like crap. PD's specialty is not tuned car sounds.

Also PD has the sound weird when it comes to set-up. Choosing living room, small theater, large theater, just compresses the sound more and requires you to turn up the avr louder to hear the same sounds. I run a Harmon Kardon AVR, its great, but the GT5 sound is really flat and electronic, no matter the in game settings. PD will never patch this.:ouch:

When driving in cockpit mode I think the sounds are quite good , but then I don't really tune my cars and I only drive in this mode, so cant comment on the old school 3 person or bumper cam mode.

I don't think they'll fix the exhaust note. Some sound not too bad but what about the race cars? The Corvette C5R sounds no better than a Mustang. PD never got it right in GT4 & still haven't. I think they were wearing ear plugs when they recorded that 427!!

I just use a sony wireless surround sound and set it to Large theatre. This drops the volume of the menu sounds but when you get on track it totally blows you away if you are not carefull!.. maybe it has something to do with it being a sony surround sound? lol

I see, I just noticed the huge drop in volume in the options menu and never raced with it, now I'll give it go.

ahh i see.. if it is set to large theatre and you can hear the menu noises clear, prepare yourself to be deafened.

if you had read the notice when selecting this option, you will have noticed it says some noises seem quieter and can have outbursts of louder sounds

or something pretty close to those lines :)

lol getting some interest this thread ;)..

i just use normal tv speakers..

jimbag are you against xbox then? couldnt quite work out what you were getting at lol.. but anyways yeah i dont have an xbox as 1 broke, the other i had got banned, but im waiting till i got some cash to buy the xbox slim solely for forza :sly:..

just to add to the sounds, porsche n/a i recently purchased, sounds ok, but supra rz road car sounds similar to the real thing both before and after tuning, so there is a plus ha.....

anyone notice that the crashes in arcade sound better? Also if you put a racing intake and exhaust it ruins the sounds...BTW every upgrade changes the sound of yor ca...transmission, turbo/superchargers...ect... the worst is the intake, exhaust & drivetrain upgrades

with the new patch did it help the blow off valve noise at all?

The notice was in regard to switching inputs without first turning down the AVR, since in GT5 large theater setting you need it cranked much higher than normal, versus watching TV or playing 360.

Honda vtec cars on gt5 sound nothing like real life with or without mods.

If you check out the sound comparison at http://www.insidesimracing.tv I think PD will know what we are looking for.

Personally I think they went crazy putting all these cars in the game and there was either no budget to improve the sound or there was no overhead left to process the sound while playing. That is why the sounds sounds so compressed.
