"you tried to load another user's save data" My user is gone

So I was all happy this morning, thinking I was gonna have a great day playing GT5 all day long. Turn on the PS3, and it gives me a warning that it had lost the settings and it would reset them. So far I thought it was just a minor glitch, something like it would forget the size of my screen or something. When it finally logs in, my user is gone. I'm stuck with User1. I try to load GT5 and it gives me the message "you tried to load another user's save data. You cannot use this save data. Overwriting with new save data"

I obviously don't click the OK button, but it gives me another warning: "Registration of the trophy information could not be completed. The game will quit"

I tried creating a new user and it it gives me the same thing. I tried renaming the new User1 as my old username and it doesn't work either (even thou with the new User1 I can see that all my saved stuff is still there)

Any thoughts on how I can use my old game data?

I would copy the game save files to a usb then restore the ps3. then copy the files back and see if that works
