Gonna branch off from the "Your Graphics Card" thread and ask what CPU are you all using, is it overclocked, and how are you cooling the beast?

I'm using a Q6600 that's been overclocked to a rather mild 3GHz (mild considering I know it's capable of 4) and it's been cooled by a Megahalem with two 120mm fans.

This is what I use everyday. A Core 2 Duo E7500 with the Scythe Shuriken CPU cooler. I currently only run the CPU stock at 2.93GHz since I don't need more from it(that and the 200watt PSU is big limiting factor). I had to do some case modding to get the cooler to fit in my slim case. The only thing that is overclocked is the onboard GeForce 9300 graphics card(up to a 9400 level or 9500, something like that). I used GC Extreme thermal paste on both the CPU(never goes pass 110F) and GPU(115F max heat so far after playing Portal 2). Some pictures for your enjoyment.

Of course I have moved those PSU cables out of the way since I took those pictures. This was my cooling solution before I took out my Gelid cooler.

A good slim cooler(28mm) but does not do much better than stock.

Running 2.66, 2.8 and 3.2 GHz P4's at stock clock speeds. No idea who made any of the fans; they're the ones that came with the machines.

And an Intel Atom at 1.6 GHz. I don't even know if it has a fan or not.

I'm really into cooling and my whole mobo is fanless using big copper Zalman and Thermotherm stuff. My PSU is modded with fan's undervolted to 5V so they are inaudible and currently I'm not using any case fans. I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 3200 stock.

I'm running an Intel I7-260 D0, overclocked from 2.6GHz to 3.8GHz.

I've chosen a Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler. Here's a comparison of the stock Intel cooler (left) and the Noctua (right) with the fans mounted

Noctua processor cooler without the fans attached.

This lot is mounted in an Antec 1200 case, which has three 120mm intake fans, a 200mm roof outlet fan and 2x 120mm rear outlet fans. The Sapphire Vapor-X graphics card vents directly to the rear, and I inverted the PSU so that its underside fan actually blows into the case.

With an ambient temperature of around 21 degrees C, the system temp runs at around 35 deg, with the cores at 45 deg idle & 72 - 78 deg at full load.

Ever thought about upgrading to the Megahalem Super Mega, Corsair H70, or even better since your case has more than enough room, an XSPC Rasa 750?

I'm picking up the latter and two GPU waterblocks (one for the 4870 and another full-cover for the X2) next week or the week after.

Behold:
Intel Celeron D 325 stock @ 2.53. Overclocked to 3.3 ghz. Stock cooling system. Can go above 3.3 Ghz only in Ubuntu (in Winblows it crashes).

It crashes because it's either completely unstable (too much or not enough voltage; VTT, PLL, etc), the RAM timings are either too loose or too tight, or not enough voltage, or there isn't enough voltage flowing through the Northbridge.

Just because Ubuntu hasn't crashed (yet) doesn't mean the overclock is stable. Have you stressed tested it for more than 8 hours?

I'm happy with the performance of the machine at the minute, so I'm not really looking to push it any harder. If I decided I wanted another couple of hundred MHz out of the processor I might upgrade the cooling, but since I've left all the performance management stuff running (it idles at 2.2GHz), the thermals aren't a huge issue for me.

When I was building it, I tested it with Prime95. It ran for 12hrs (interrupted by me) so it's nice and stable. I'm happy enough with it to stop tinkering!

I think its the northbridge voltage problem. However, my ASUS P4S800-MX won't let me change the voltage. It's being OC'd by the bus speed (172).

Intel i7 950 running at 4.0ghz.

Swiftech Apogee XT cpu waterblock
Swiftech MCR320 Triple Radiator
Swiftech Micro Res
Swiftech MCP655-B pump

Both Graphics cards are cooled with Swiftech MCW80-GTX480 (waterblock and heatsink) with optional 80mm fans attached.

AMD 5000+ BE at stock clocks... Because every time I try overclocking it I eventually run into issues with stability. Highest I've gotten it to actually do stuff in Windows at was just over 3ghz (2.6 stock) but it crashed after a few hours of doing pretty much nothing (despite surviving a few benchmarks) and I set it back to default.

Then again I know next to nothing about overclocking (aside from having run an about 25% overclock for 3-4 years on my first comp) so Iunno. Cooling on here is an I-forget-what with an 80mm fan. Temps are rock stable so I don't complain.

Intel P4, 3.0GHz bumped up to 3.45, 3.6 ran a bit hot on the cooler, 3 pin DeepCool. I then found that the stock Intel 4-pin fan clips onto the top of this fan (presumably by sheer luck), not sure if it's making a difference but trying 3.6 again right now. :D

EDIT: The room temperature here is pretty cold, under 20C but it's sitting at 42 max load right now, was 60 last time I tried 3.6 and the temp buzer came on and can barely feel any heat. Maybe I can push it a bit more?

As for my other, custom built system, AMD Phenom II X4 (For just over $100AUD), stock cooler 3.2GHz, bumped up to I think 3.68 with an auto 25% on the BIOS, got bluescreen errors at 3.84.

Anyone here sporting a Phenom 1090T?

I'd love to know how well a sub-$200 six core proccy overclocks.

Well I have a laptop with an i7 2630QM @2.00GHz.
I haven't tried Turbo Boost because I don't feel the need for it yet... I might get a laptop cooler because when the CPU usage is at 100% (video rendering) temperatures go up to 85C!

I snapped the mount for my little double fan setup. Oh well haha.

Also I have a HP laptop with a Core 2 Duo T6570, 2.1GHz. Stock cooler.

My mate has a 1055T I believe, the 2.8GHz one, OC'd to 3.5. I'd imagine this one can be bumped up well too.

I'm running an i7 950 @ 3.33ghz, and it's cooled with this:
Cooler Master V6GT. Wanted to go with a Noctura unit, but this one looked way better in my rig...

shoulda went w/ the silver arrow :P. its like the noctua, but better looking basically. no ugly beige/brown fans.

Intel E8600 3.0ghz overclocked to 6.2ghz

Cooled by one of Kingpin's Dragon EVO 2.4 liquid nitrogen pots. :ill:
