Your first car in GT4

I know this is a little pre emptive but lets all discuss the first car we think we will use at the start of GT4.
Just keep in mind that if the pre game information is correct we will be able to choose from Used Cars.

I will attempt to Gold the first license test and use that car assuming the game will follow previous GT titles.
If any thing changes I would like to use a second hand 4WD Skyline R32.
Lets all hear what you want to start with.

I'm gonna have to wait andsee, no one knows what hidden gem's will be lying around the used car lot's.

A 2nd gen RX7 should do well for all of the early races. Obviously a Trueno would be a viable option.... Maybe an 80s Mercedes 190E, if PD puts in the Used Autos section.

Though, just like winning the Esperante GTR-1 from Arcade Mode's Time Trial, I have a feeling that the best option may be to spend some extra time getting golds in some of the licenses so that you don't have to buy a car at the start, and can instead be set to go with a nifty prize car.

Nobody knows how much we will have to spend either.
Also will the hidden gem's be affordable at the start?
Will PD make only the domestic Japenese cars cheap enough to buy as your first car as per GT1 and GT2.

Actually in GT2 you could afford to start with a Fiat 500R, what a beast. That was it as far as European and US models go though.

Live4speed did anyone actually use the Fiat 500R as a first car. I think I would be correct in saying we all picked a Japenese car. Sorry, I should have wrote "competitive" in my previous post.

To me, the Mazda RX-7 from 1990-ish has been the best choice for the horsepower. I think I started with an old Supra once as well. And call me crazy, but I'd want a nicely-tuned Mini Cooper as a starting car. When it comes to used cars, you'd better hope you start out with 20,000 Cr rather than 10K Cr or 18K Cr.

Besides, 20K is about enough to own a car under 10K and modify it just enough so that it can be a great car before selling it for shiner muscle. But then, that would be unrealistic, since not everyone has that mouch money to buy a car and make it a racer. What if you just bursted onto the scene? If they make it into GT4, low-cost club racing cars would be nice to consider. Like maybe look up http://www.race-cars.com (is that the right site?) and check out the inexpensive... and even expensive machines there. I think I heard of a Radical sportscar that sells for not very much.

I started GT and GT2 with a 1994 Honda Prelude VTEC, and I'm looking forward to doing the same thing once more.

Yeah, Soman (almost called you "Samoan" for some reason. Pardon my almost mispelling). But let's say that you don't have enough money and you are inexperienced at racing. Now sure, then you'd want to go used cars, but as I've said. Consider EVERYONE who'll play the game and the talents they possess. I've come close to all-gold, but with my record, I've STILL never hit the all-gold honors. About my best performance was with GT3's A-License tests. Okay, so maybe I don't have a record to knock off Solid Lifters or anybody that is a PERFECT GT racer, but I'm at least either trying or not really trying to go all-gold. To me, get the licenses, go racing. And in fact, I'll go race for licenses first, then worry about racing. It was off-topic mostly, but yeah. It may be VERY late, but I hope you all had a good Memorial Day.

I got a GT4Prologue so thats a head start. Boy I hope there will be a global launch with very short gap from region to region.

Ya know i dont think some of you are the real hardcores of gt. All gold onlicenses. Well i bought a little piece and tuned,. No golds or time trial. But anyway, in gt i had many 1st car cuz i did it like 8 times but in gt2 and 1 i had , i think the r31 so im going to go with everyone else who said it but, the r31.

I hope that you can see all the cars in the whole game from the start (Including the ones that you can't even buy)

That way you'll know what you're missing out on and have to try and get.

For some reason I've got the idea of having a Mk2 VW Golf GTi as my first car in GT4 (if its included). Still if there was a second hand Volvo I wouldn't be suprised if my decision changed ;)

May go an FTO again, might try to find an old Impreza, might even go an RX-7 if something looks tempting.

I'm betting on 10K start money.

I've never golded an entire license without an AR so that won't be how I'm acquiring my cars. I will be getting my S license before I even look at a race though. I just do that.

John: We know it's not viable for a lot of people to get by with a license prize car, but we're not trying to guide people as to what to buy, just posting what we think we'll run with.

And spoil any suprise bonus cars. No thanks I'd rather have to find them and use a prize list when I've done all/most of the cups at least once.

I have no idea. I don't know what my options are, of course. But, it would be nice to start the game with the Neon, or perhaps a muscle car. I guess I'll shoot for all golds, then maybe use that car, or sell it to buy something more decent.

After playing Prologue i want to start with the Honda Oddysey cos i cant wait to tune it (yes i am seeking psychiatric help, ) If you cant afford this i may try to get all golds on the B license, if not i will look around and see if anything catches my eye. Not starting with a New Beetle though as i did in GT3, bad idea.

I always went for the used Mazda RX7. It handled the best of the used cars in GT1+2. It was a car I always enjoyed playing the games with, and was nice to upgrade as well.:)

used Integra type R if available... Integra's have served me well early on in past GT's... although i normally try to all gold at least the first license before i start racing sim mode.

The mazda is a good car for starters, that's for sure.. I'm looking forward for the used car to return, hope there will be good alternative to the wankel-machine.. old skylines or supras.. maybe even an alfa or some bmw's...?:D The license should go first, some of them at least.. let's see what comes out of those...
