What Go-Karting accidents have you had. I've had a spin once. It's pretty embarrasing, since it was one of them Go-Karts that seem to have lawn-mower engines. Anyway, I was leading on the last lap, and I was trying to lap my Dad, and as I was trying to overtake him in one of the corners, he touched my rear wheel, and it spun me. The bad thing is it did not spin me enough. If he had I would have lended up pointing the right way again, but I did not. Instead, I lended facing the wrong way. Everyone passed me safely without hitting me though. I still won though, because the people who passed me were just unlapping themselves. And better thing was, it was the first time I'd won a Go-Kart race, even though it was just an attraction at a holiday resort. I've won another one at the same track since then. And this time, without spinning!

I was riding go-carts at a track once, I was head on head on head with my brother and some other kid. I was on the far left, then my brother, then the kid on the right. We came to a right turn and the kid rammed into the side of my brother. I had pulled ahead a little so my brother hit the back right corner of my cart. (Guard rails on the sides of the carts) I ended up accidentally drifting that go-cart around the whole hairpin turn. My brother and that kid where staring with their jaws dropped afterwards.

I've had all kinds of karting accidents. I flipped over once. I got a jammed throttle a few times. Brake failure once. Rear hub broke off once. Also, I'm not unfamiliar with the taste of tire wall. :D

I was at Brand Hatch go-karting track and it was pouring with rain, me and 4 others were doing a 10 lapper and on the 9th or 10th lap near the end of the lap there is and small s shaped turn which leads to a long hairpin. As I braked into the S-Turn my foot slipped off the brake and I drove straight through the plastic barriers and into the tyre wall :s

Cool. Can you tell me the full story about when you flipped over? :)

Getting ready for warm-up we had a battery failure, so while the entire pack was already out my mechanic was still changing batteries on the kart. Eventually we got my kart started and I blasted out the pitlane. On this track the pitlane exit coincided with the exit of a chicane before a straight. The pit exit was pretty much blind and I wasn't paying attention to the marshal.

I needed to haul ass to catch up with the pack (still in warm up) before the flag dropped when I hit a stragler on the rear wheel coming out the pits - mind you this was the year before full rear-ram-bars became mandatory - the old bars left the wheels exposed. At about 80km/h I got launched. Had a nice little landing on the grass though.

Hay, you're not gonna believe this. I've raced at Brands Hatch Go-Karting Track aswell, well sort of. I was doing OK, since them Go-Karts are pretty powerfull. On that fast first bend the back-end would step out, and I corrected it everytime, impressive since I was only 12. So this was about 2 years ago then. Anyway, the way the other people were driving really scared me, so I pulled of onto the grass and got out of the kart, untill the person told me I had to drive it back round, so I did. But the thing was, they cut my engine power to half with their control thingy, as I was so called ramming people, when infact they were ramming me. I was never really happy drving them, and in the end I was to nervous to continue. I have taken of me driving during that race, and you can tell by my body language and by the way I driving that I just wasn't happy out there. However, if I went back to Brands, I would defintley try again, and I want to. When I do, I won't chicken out since I know what to expect in the first place. So then, I'll just drive like I normally do, goodly. Somehow though, I don't think goodly is in the English Dictionery. And I'm not sure if it would approve of the way I've spelt Dictionery either!

Well if goodly won't work, then try godly!

WOW! Thanks for telling me. Have you had anyworse.

PS: This really annoys me. Everone else has had these awesome accidents, while I've just had a little spin in a motorised coffee blender. Maybe it's because I hardly race Go-Karts, even though I love too. I only do Go-Karts at fairgrounds and Holidays, when you can hop into one of them motorised coffee blenders of a Go-Kart, and drive.

Well I have had alot over the years but this one stands out in my mind. Keep in mind these are the crappy go carts at amusemnt parks.

One time about 5 years ago I was doing go carts in the outerbanks with my dad. We are both very aggressive to we are passing every one and shoving every one in our way. One thing led to another and I spun this little kid and his dad into the wall with such force that the kid started crying. Well this kids dad starts yelling at me and I'm trying to control myself from laughing because my dad passed me at the same time laughing and taunting me. I was probably 11 or 12.
:)

I've had this other one at the beach. I wasn't actually driving on sand, since they had mats on the sand so we did'nt have to drive on the tricky stuff. Now, this circuit was just a simple oval shape, with these soft barries all around it, which is pretty pointless, since the Go-Karts were about as powerful as a dead tortouise so you can't really get hurt. Anyway, I went around a corner to fast and plowed straight into the soft barrier. And these things don't have a reverse gear, so this adult had to pull me out!

I was karting the other day when the slow coach of the pack spun it at a hairpin.

after the back straight (back straight at top of map corner : berkers). he called the marhsall across as I came out of the back straight at full speed and as I come round the corner this marshall runs out infront of me and I swerve to avoid him ending up on he grass, and then Only_In_F1 came around with his dad and nearly killed me! great fun

hey george how's it going? :)

yes, except the track is miniature!

My dad once raced karts against Alan McNish. Moving on.

The first time i when Karting i was about 12. It was a 'damp' day and i came up to the top hairpin at Whilton Mill. Two or Three laps in i was getting annoyed at the person infront. I had a 2nd hand chassis and Instead of a number i had black tape to show i was a newcomer. The guy infront had brand new light weight chassis, several sets of tyers, 'areodynamic' sidepods the whole hog. I decided to make a move, at the top hairpin. I braked later and harder and turned in. I was sideways going into the corner i was regaining control when i was felt a tap on my rear it spun me out into the banking and broke my chassis.

I was so angry but i couldn't do nothing my uncle just said, 'lets pack up and go home.' So we did.

Cool. Bad thing about the chassis. I just realised I've created 3 new thread in one and a half days, and now I've had an idea for another one. Oh well, the more threads the better I suppose.

About me going into a soft barrier at the beach, I've done the same thing on an almost identical circuit. Same circuit shape, no mat for the track, since this time it was on grass!

Dont mince your words then...
:)

Skid Mark 33 Do you Kart often? & ever been to Whilton kart track?
No, but hell I'd love to. My dream (ambition is a better word for it) is to become an F1 driver, but realisticly thats never gonna happen. The problem is, if you want to become a footballer, all you need is skill. If you want to become a Tennis player, all you need is skill. If you want to be a golfer, all you need is skill. If you want to be a... you get my point. Thing is, if you want to become a racing driver, you need skill, and one hell of a lot of money. Now that just sucks. I could easily buy a second hand kart and start racing, but then I don't know how good I'm gonna be. And if I do bad and lend up smashing up my kart every race, it's gonna dig a bigger hole in my Dads pocket than global warming is digging in the ozone layer. This is the issue.

Running over a pebble in a fast left sweeper on a track in the Philippines. Started sliding and almost hit the pit wall, luckily I slammed the brakes in time.

There are also many times I've come close to crashing due to me trying to overtake on the outside line.

I've actually pulled of a very clever overtaking move once. It happened on the same track I spun on, except this was not in the same race, plus I didn't have the callenge of my Dad. Anyway it happened on a slighty banked turn that goes right, left, left, right. On the first right, I stuck to the back of the man in front of me, then on the left I started to edge to the outside of the track. Now on the next left, the racing line is to stick to the inside of the left hand bend, so you can get the right line into the right hand bend. So while the man in front did this, I stuck to his arse, then as he went to the inside of the left hand bend, I sticked to the outside which gave me the inside line for the next turn. So on the next turn, I dived down the inside, and made this man look like a right idiot. I was lucky I was right on his rear, or it would have been harder. This this other man came up behind me, and was with me for the last 3 laps. But I kept him behind the whole time. When I pulled into the pits to get out the car, the man laughed to my Dad ''I couldn't get past him''!

And if trying godly doesn't work I will try not to soil myself when I lend up crashing into a tyre barrier!

Edit: May I just add it's not like me to crash. However I have done so quite a few times on my push bike!

Sorry for the serial post. I swear I clicked on edit, but obvousily I did not, Sorry!

Does anyone want me to tell them how many accidents I have had on my push bike!

I seriously hafta get into karting. *rings mikes uncle* (he's apparently very muich into karting and knows people)

A friend of mine races karts, he was racing someone who flipped around a high speed corner, he landed up-side down and broke his neck.

He was very lucky not to be paralysed for life. Not all karting accidents are good fun.

Yeah I know they are not all fun. I'm was just asking as these things are intresting to read about. Then again, that would be disrespectful to the people who have been paralysed by these accidents!
