What's your best comeback in a race? (Endurance events)

Just yesterday, I was doing Indy 500 with my Audi R10. It's a diesel, so I was determined only to pit when the fuel tank is empty to beat the competition.
So as I was lapping side by side with 5 other cars, my car started to oversteer and started to slide in the corners... Starting a new lap, I spun out in the first corner. After spinning out a few times more, everyone lapped me and I eventually got back to the pits on lap 32. Didn't refill the whole tank.
I was 2 laps behind. Meh, thought my race is over... gotta restart. After a couple of laps, they started pitting in, I pushed harder. And after everyone pitted, guess what. I was back in second!
I eventually went on to win the race by 2 laps :)

Theres been countless times where I have crashed early on in the race (Once Ive gotten in front mostly), many of the times I finish them first with less then a quarter of a second.

During the FGT championship, I spun off at Fuji, and ended up in last place.

After some brutal maneuvers (and Pitting the AI driver who caused me to spin off:trouble:) managed to win the race by 20 seconds.

1. Schwarzwald B.
I was 1st but I spun out in the middle of lap 3. When I came back to the track, AI bashed me back into the grass again, so I was 9th. But I came back to 1st place at the final straight, winning by 1 car length.
2. FGT Championship at Fuji
I was 10th on lap 5, because FGT is so twitchy I lost control over it. I got to the first place on lap 19. During whole race I was on edge on my seat, palms sweating. Never felt anything like that in a video game :)

Nurburgring 4h...

3.5hrs in, I'm in the lead from a Spoon GT1 Turbo in my Lexus IS-F /RM.

Forgot to pit in and end up doing a crazy spin-fest of a lap on badly worn slicks, lose well over 3 mins. Then I put the wrong tyres on so have to claw back the time on hard tyres...

I drive like a loon, manage to get within 6 or so seconds then I have a huge spin after the long straight, cross the line for the start of the last lap 30 seconds behind. Eventually finish 2nd, 7.7 seconds adrift.

Despite the drama this was a fantastic race, I had to keep pushing all through the race and be consistent. The mistakes were costly but this was the best race I've had in the GT series for a long time!

Lotus 111R special event. Bought car new, subtle tuning and a black paint job with yellow wheels.

First time out in the car (apart from the special event, which doesn't count!), spun out 3 times on the first few laps, then worked my way through the field to finish first out of the last corner.

Most fun I've had in ages (apart from some online karting last night).

American Championship:

Worked my way up to second in the first corners and started chasing that 🤬 "car" called the 2J... catched that idiot in the last corner of the last lap :O ... suck that you idiot box!!! :)

FGT @ Monaco. Spun twice on the first lap. then again, then again. Was 10th at the halfway point. Then some zen zoning set over me and I was super focused and determined. I finally caught up to first place and took him over after the chicane. I went from super aggravated to super excited.

4h of Tsukuba. After an hour or so I was almost a lap down in 2nd place, driving as fast as I could with only one spin that cost me a few seconds. I was losing a second or so per lap most of the race and only won because the AI stayed on its tyres too long, so there were a couple of windows after my stops where I was on fresh tyres so a few seconds a lap faster and I could claw back some of the lost time. The AI was slow through traffic too, which let me gain more time. I was putting in super-consistent laps (I saw 3 laps within 0.03 of each other) as fast as I could for more than three hours to close the gap, but I finally got past when he made his final stop about 40 mins from the end. The last 20 minutes or so were scary - 2nd place was on fresher tyres and was faster anyway, so the lead I got when I passed him in the pits was decreasing at an ever greater rate as my tyres started to go off. The gap was down to about 10 seconds when we crossed the line. Another few laps and he'd have been right on my tail.

FGT Championship - Suzuka

Started the race with Racing Intermediate tires because the preview was wet (was pouring at Monza too)... turns out the rain stopped and the track dried up prior to race start.

I was pissed...

AI was fine, but I couldn't get up to speed on my intermediates. So I had to pit at the end of lap 1.
It was do or die from there as I needed to be at least 5th (or so I told myself) to win the championship. I dropped out of Monza and got no points... Damn rain.

Anyway, I came back and finished 1st by all of 2 seconds. Best race (and series) so far for me.
Wish I saved the replay. :ouch:

Hmm, that would be online. Got spun in the first corner on Nordschleife. Fought back to first place, overtaking 11 cars, the last one in the last corners. Of course, luck was on my side too.
