Is it just me or are these fanatech wheels a bit of a rip off-like many other porsche badged products. Don't get me wrong im sure they are fantastic wheels but are they really £150 better than a g27 or about £250 better than a g25? Porsche branded products do after all have a reputation for being almost stupidly priced...

Any thoughts??

Well in the UK the G27 retails for approx £330.
I would ask is a G27 worth 2x the amount of a discounted G25?

Regards the Fanatec range please take into account the size of this company compared to Logitech and manufacturing costs will be much greater I would imagine for Fanatec.

Additionally you have Microsoft and Porsche licensce fees to pay and these we believe are not cheap.

You may call it paying for the badge but when you get a product that matches upto the quality you would expect at a premium price point then it is the quality and materials in the product you pay for not so much "just" the badge.

Ferrari are an example, you can get almost everything Ferrari branded these days yet as an example in many cases you dont get an assured quality for the badge in all those branded products. Sometimes yes the brand or badge is used to sell a product but in defense of Fanatec wheels id say they are setting the benchmark for features, build and quality.

People dont mind paying extra for quality and satisfaction in this regards Fanatec are no different.

The turbo s wheel is 350$. The G27 is 300$. The turbo s wheel works on the 360, ps3, and PC. so yes I would say it's 50$ better for that alone, not to mention the smoothness, and strength of the FF. I have a G25 and turbo s wheel, and the turbo s wheel is easily better then the G25. I haven't used the G27 and probably never will since it doesn't work on all consoles so I won't be able to comment on the quality of the G27.

Really, I think the Fanatec wheels offer very good value for the money. The GT3 RS Clubsport wheel is still available for $ 289 US (+ $50 for the shifters). That compares very favourably with the G25 or G27.

In Estonia, G27 costs as much as GT3RS clubsport edition + shifters. So I would say that that g27 is a total rip off. To me, fanatec stuff is better in every aspect.

I noticed the same with the G27 in Sweden. For some unknown reason they decided to ramp the cost. I can´t remember the G25 even when new costed that much.

Asking 300 € and more, both for the Fanatec and the G27, is really a bit of a joke. Yes, there's licensing involved, yes the development and certification both are time consuming and expensive and yes, a proper wheel is a must for the enthusiast.

Still, as Raitziger said, as long as enough people are willing to pay the price, there's no sense in looking at the costs.

Myself, I settled for the G25, but if I would want something similar for the XBox, I'd be forced to buy the Fanatec, because the MS Wheel really isn't any good. But a premium of 150 € is simply way too much I'd be prepared to spend - because that amount of money gets invested in a new console :D

BTW G25 was 300€ when it was first released here in finland.( i sold mine for 150 and ordered fanatec wheel for forza)
