I've been wondering for some time now who has young kids wheeling around in GT5. I have a 7yo and a 4yo (the youngest just started this week).

The 7yo has gotten pretty good for his age I suppose. I thought he had stopped using aids but discovered today he isn't (oh the horror! Lol) buy he continues to learn yhe correcy racing lines and finesse so I'm goid with it ;-) at the same time though he has produced some awesome photos with little to no help from me.

The point is that I'm pretty proud of what he has and is accomplishing in the game and I presume there are others here with the same sentiment.

I'm not generally for letting kids this young play a lot of video games, but, I don't have the money to get them in to real racing (karts, MX, etc) so this is the next best thing. And besides, lets face it I truly believe sim racing will become a "professional" sport in some sense in the coming years (if even just very low level). It is already proving that you can become a real world race driver if you're good enough even without a history irl cars.

I think for the sake of privacy since after all these are our kids that online ID's and names should be left out of the conversations here (unless you are comfortable with it).

So post up some pictures of cars created by, pictures taken by, stats or stories, and experiences from your little racers... (I would think 10yrs and under?)

I'll be posting up some pics as soon as I get a chance :-)

PS: idk if this is in the right place or being repeated so if it needs a change mods please tell/help me.

I let my 3 yr old daughter take a few cars out for a spin on GT4 recently(yes she used the wheel!).. She wasn't very accurate but I didn't expect much... she had a blast and insists on driving red cars( I try not to let her convince me that all my GT5 garage should be red!)

Ha! Ya my 4yo did that tonight too... Had to have red (after building a lime green Dihatsu w/yellow wheels anyway lol)

My 7yo started with GT1 and moved up playing all of them since when he first started 4yrs ago I still only had GT1&2. He was getting pretty good at GT4 and TOCA3 until we got the PS3 for xmas last year. The 4yo hasn't had any interest until recently so GT5 is his first. They both use my old DFP now and love it :-)

Nice.. I think it will give them a serious leg up on car control by the time they get licenses..(assuming we still use the same automotive technology in 12 yrs)

LOL I have enough trouble trying to get a friend same age as me (30), To drive properly and not try the NFS full throttle throw it round every corner style driving.

Ha my "new" buddy us the same way. He will ONLY drive the X2011 because its the only car he can win in rofl...

Ya its just another reason why I personally think that sum racing will be big in the future. When the eco-nazi's truly dig in to motorsports its going to really get ugly.

I just don't see the public going out and paying $20-$150 to see a bunch of electric go karts whining around at 110mph for 15min.

Even then it will be a niche sport. Think curling :-(

My 4 year old sister has driven a FGT with an Indy setup @ Daytona with a DFGT, and thats about it. Also, it may be in the wrong thread, but I got my mother to win a Seasonal event at Cape Ring with an Infiniti G35

Nice! On both counts ;-)

Can't get my mom to play (but she's 57 and sucks irl driving) but my wife has golded all the GTA events so far :-)

Of course, so has the 7yo ;-)

I'm starting my 2 month old, young lol. She can grab the metal part on the wheel (G27) where the buttons are. She knows that when I steer, the screen moves lol, its cute to watch her watch me play. She actually sat and watched me for half an hour straight without fussing and being bored.

Babies are amazing creatures aren't they? I hope mom git some pics ;-)

On a side note... Taught the 7yo how to use the h-gate and clutch tonight. Amazing, within 5min he had upshifts down (and honestly I think the 1-2 is faster than mine!) Tomorrow we work more on DS... Then heel toe next week lol...

Oh ya, lots of pics lol.

I think kids pick this up pretty quick as to someone older starting out. I have some friends, as they all drive, they suck in the game. No shifting techniques, braking, throttle, anything. My nefews on the other hand, maybe 10, picked it up very quickly.

My 6 year old is much the same although it's pink cars she likes instead of red ones.

This shot was taken 2 years ago when she was more into Peppa Pig games on a V-Tech....

Game over by Andrew Robertson, on Flickr

.....Game 'til you drop:lol:

Haven't shown her how to work the GT5 camera yet but will let her have a play with that when I get a chance.

And maybe I'll tell her when she can gold the seasonals she can have a PS3 in her room....see how that aids the learning process!:sly:

I let my neice and nephew play it, with DS3. My nephew just enjoyed doing donuts, no matter how many times I said follow that blue line!

My neice however did quite well in an MX5... although she had me paint it bright pink...

My 6 year old son is actually a pretty good driver with the DS3 as I don't yet have a wheel, at first he exclusively used the X2010 (what kid didn't) but over time he got serious and started racing clean, following the line, learning to brake, controlling the throttle, all that stuff.. We had great races together, I'm proud of him!! Cars wise, he loves k cars, and the prototype cars, and insists on painting all of them midnight purple or matte blue with lime green wheels, whew, he has his own account just for that (nevermind it's my backup account lol)!!

Great thread, keep the stories coming!!

I put my sister on my DFGT with an X1 around SSRX. She said it was the devil lol

That's hilarious!

My little brother used to do okay at racing games... he knew when to turn but didn't know when to take his hand off of the X button... he was 2 years old and now he is 11 but he developed a hate for simulation racing.

:-( well that's a sad story...

I need to get my 2 year old niece to play GT5 one day... start her young :sly:. She's already got an obsession for cars, and my sister hates us for it. She's paticularly obsessed with our Mondeo, and she goes crazy whenever she hears it, or thinks she's heard it. She also cries if she doesn't get to go for a ride!
