So we all know that the ZR1 RM is one of the fastest, best "value" cars in the game and does well (when fully modified) with "Like The Wind", the Indy Race, etc, etc. My question is.....several on here have claimed that the Z06 RM (also when fully modified) is actually faster?? Is this really true? Or.....could it just be an isolated experience with one or two people? Are there any out there who have quantified that the ZR1 RM is indeed faster than the Z06?

Hmmm...thats interesting. I'll see when I get home but what I do know is in real life Corvette enthusiasts race the ZO6 rather than the ZR-1. If it is true I wouldn't doubt it!

Yeah, some dude on a thread earlier today reckoned he was going 0.4 secs quicker round Indy in the Z06 RM compared to the ZR1 RM.

I've only got the ZR1 RM so can't tell, but it's interesting, there's a Vette racecar in the game aswell (can't remember the model, I'm guessing at the C05, but not sure), it'd be interesting to see how that racecar compares to the RM cars too.

It's legendary race car called C5R.. We should start an online championship exclusivly for Z06 RM, ZR1 RM and the C5R. That would be something..

Back on GT3, me and my little brother used to do C5R vs Team Oreca Viper all day long races.

HAHAHA!! Is that so? Me and my little brother too :)

Would be nice with a comparison between the 3. As soon as I get my hands on a C5R, I'll try them on the same track to see the difference..

I don't know if that is fact or not, but my race mod Z06 cruises through Indy with no sweat and it cost half what the ZR1 does, on base price.

Indy is one thing, but what about road courses? I've been meaning to build one of these since its talked about so much on the fourms, but now i dunno which one!

The 'Little 'Vette' as I like to call the Co6, is a superb car. I've tuned an RM'd version to slip under the 571bhp/1000kg race format, and it is a pocket rocket.

With no engine mods (bar those give when the car is RM'd), it is capable of winning the Indy 'grind' race by around seven seconds.

I am truly astonished with the performance of this car considering it's modest stats (~560bhp/1080kg), which, thanks to spades of torque, allow this car to dominate it's catagory.

imo the zr1 is much more of a car than the z06. I have both and despise the z06. Could be I haven't been able to tune it right though.

What are the top numbers for both RM'd? I'd assume the Z06 would have more torque with so much more displacement.

This car is definitely faster than the later...

I just got done testing both of these cars on Fuji F circuit and the times were very close, but the zr1 was faster by about .7 seconds comparing the best laps from both cars, although the zo6 seemed easier to get around the slow corners but the zr1 was faster on the strait. However the zr1 was broken in and the z06 was brand new so im guessing with a break in the zo6 would be faster, though not by much

If they're close enough for discussion I'm buying a Z06. I despise the hood window on the ZR1. I loved the ZR1 from the 90s and was really pissed when I saw the stupid hood window on the new one.

On paper the ZR1 is faster etc. but if you have both test them round the 'Ring'!. In the Tuning Forum there is a part where a guy claims he got the Zo6 round faster over 10 laps so its not just a 1 lap flook.

I have raced both at Indy in the American series. Alot. From my experience the Z06 RM doesnt handle as well as the ZR1 RM. The difference is ever so slight, but i can tell mostly at turn 3 and 4. Both are broke in. The ZR1 RM is my favorite car in the game. I have been looking for a C5R but have had no luck.

The ZR1 is undoubtedly faster BUT the Z06 is a matter of hundreds of thousands cheaper to buy and maintain.

ZR1 handles better and is much easier to drive

Dang I have the exact same paint scheme.

and the C5R is slower than a miata.

I have the C5-R and it is slower than the ZR-1 RM around Indy by quite a bit. The C5-R top speed with the least down force is 225 mph.

The American car with the best time around Indy is the GT-40 Test Car sold at the Gran Turismo dealership for 3.5 mill. I have pics of the times it does but it's over 3 seconds a lap faster.

While on paper the zr1 would have the advantage, in actuality the z06 is a much better track car because that was its intended purpose (the z06 evolved out of the z51 suspension/wheel package offered on c5 corvettes while the zr1 is intended as a gt for open roads). The game is no exception. I have bought and tuned 8 corvettes (4 z06 and 4 zr1) to different extents (with and without rm and with and without engine tuning) and carefully tweaked suspension, aerodinamics, diff, and ballast (I do this in real life too lol) and while the zr1 is faster in a straight line, the weight distribution and balance the z06 has (fully tuned) makes for a faster vehicle on everything but the first bit of accelerating out of a turn but since you can carry more speed through the turn with the z06, it's negated.

After 20 laps on "the ring" in each:
Record time in zr1 = 6:20.16
Record time in z06 = 6:16.23

I've always found the aut six to be much more consistent, but I still ultimately get better times in the ZR1.

I tried both with semi-tuned. The ZR1 is faster then the Z06.
