Opinions, comments or just general chat. Tell me what you guys think of them. For those of you who don't know Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain are in Zwan.

I just heard one of their songs earlier this week, and thought I recognized Corgan's voice. I liked it.

How long have they been together, because that was the first song I had heard.

Oi!

Following the dissolution of the Smashing Pumpkins in December 2000 and a brief stint moonlighting with New Order, Billy Corgan quietly put together his first official post-Pumpkins project in late 2001, a quartet known as Zwan. Not surprisingly, Corgan opted to enlist on drums his longtime musical foil and creative spark plug Jimmy Chamberlin, with the other half of the lineup rounded out with guitarist Matt Sweeney (formerly of Chavez and Skunk) and guitarist/bassist David Pajo (formerly of Tortoise and Slint). The group surreptitiously debuted in November 2001 with a series of four small club shows in the Los Angeles/San Diego area, followed by a brief jaunt through the Midwest the following month. Each of these two mini-tours boasted an entirely different set of songs, hinting at the wealth of material that the prolific band had already worked out in their few months together. In April 2002, bassist Paz Lenchantin (of A Perfect Circle fame) joined the group for a series of shows in St. Louis and Corgan's hometown of Chicago. These dates featured yet a third set of music, different from the previous two, bringing the total number of songs in Zwan's repertoire up into the neighborhood of 60. After inking a deal with Reprise, Zwan released their first single, "Honestly", in November 2002, with their debut album slated to follow in early 2003

no, corgan is a tool.

Not to mention a fool. Never really liked Smashing Pumpkins but I do like Slint and a few derivative bands like Eleventh Dream Day and Tortoise so this Zwan seems worth checking out. But I do have to say I'm surprised anyone from Slint would partner up with Corrigan.

I used to live yelling distance from Billy Corrigan.

You'd think you'd be able to spell his name right then. Maybe he's talking about someone else actually named Billy Corrigan.

zwan is good, but still, not as good as the pumpkins. they lack the darkness and sadness the smashing pumpkins so well represented in each and every song. zwan is too sweet.
but hey, its their first CD. I know corgan can make much better thing with zwan, and Ill be waiting for them. their whole album is very good.

Cano

hope next album is way cool.

People who call other people a "tool" are freakin' idiots. No offense meant, unless you take offense to being called an idiot.

i think zwan's somehow got the sound of the smashing pumpkins. corgan's got a unique voice. i like their band, since it's much like smashing pumpkins.
