well, i would be starting a "worthless" thread because everyone was already aware of it. not that the thread itself would be inherantly free of worth.

PD, why is the Veyron still in the OCD? Oh I know why, because no one is buying it! :p

p78
do want that sauber

So do I, but I just dropped Cr20M on the Ferrari 330. Getting back up to Cr5-6M is gonna take some work. Good think the most recent seasons have been paying Cr100k-plus per race.

I think out of that list the Opel DTM is the only car I don't have, but I strongly suspect I have it... I'm not sure if it's the Vauxhall or Opel version I have. I don't even know if they're both in the game, come to think of it. I hope the PSN is up tomorrow, looking forward to using several cars I never bothered with; Cobra, Mach 1, 350GT and that Superbee... Never was much of a fan of muscle cars but they're really growing on me, probably as I'm realising with age that there's a lot more to a car than high speeds, low weight and good handling.

IMHO, Sony's attitude to DRM is way over the top in any case (remember the 'rootkit' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal) so I don't think this argument is as one sided as many seem to think. Also, the hackers many have been blaming have denied responsibility for the latest 'down' (ok, so I realise this doesn't mean they are not involved but to deny it would defeat their purposes).

Sony sold a feature (the ability to install alternate os) which they then took away via an update, an action which could be considered illegal, at least under UK law as they are depriving the customer of a feature that was originally a selling point. Sony sued geohot because he provided a means to restore this feature, at least that's how I understand it.

Absolutely correct.

Sony does have some really good things going for it, the tons of awesome exclusives both this gen and the previous two, decent customer support (mostly), the best (cheapest and/or highest quality) peripherals for a console, etc...

But basically every second bad thing you hear about digital rights management, copy protection, and generally being absolute tools is from SONY. Securom, for instance, is the bane of most PC gamers, triggering such family vacations as CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against EA. It's like Games for Windows Live, but without any chance of light at the end of the tunnel.

Having said that, I'm gasping to get online and get cracking on the rumoured muscle car seasonal races. I have noticed there's now an actual "maintenance" warning instead of just the error message that was freaking people out. Something must have gone majorly wrong because this maintenance doesn't appear to have been scheduled.

Plus I just spotted there's an Ur Quattro in the OCD...

Umm, they are not 'rumoured' races at all, very real. I was actually up very early yesterday morning and managed to get them done before PSN went down. Payout is higher than the 'Kei' car races, not that much higher though and doesn't make sense to grind them as they take considerably longer in muscle cars.

wish i could sign in to psn and try these out damn maintenance how long does it take

It's not a maintenance, it's something "bad" that has happened, originating in Japan.

when I try to sign in I get 8002axxx message and when i try to do it manually I get PSN is currently undergoing maintenance.

That's a standard message. Just read the official PlayStation blogs or playstation.com and you'll realise this is not a maintenance.

I got a couple of the daytona's done and then did a couple of the toscana's before the psn went down. Anxious to get back at it. :irked:

They're definitely not better paying than the k-car cup. You can around 100,000 in less than 4 minutes in most of the k-car tracks.
The muscle car cup most of the tracks take almost twice as long as that, and pay only maybe 2% more.
So unless people are driving muscle cars tons faster than I thought possible, K-cup definitely most credits for your time.
OTOH, muscle car definitely nice for a switch up break to make it more interesting.

Did you read anything I said at all or just jump in with the reply button??

I did say (if you read it) that while the new events have a higher payout that it makes no sense to grind them as they take much longer to complete. :dunce:

Anybody got any details on the musclecar seasonals?tracks etc.
Cant wait for the network to be up and running to try these out,the outage even made an article in The Sun newspaper on saturday!

Which means it makes sense to avoid Xbox owners right now, in case their unbearable smugness drives you to acts of violence...

Unless they prove to be much more fun to race over and over again than racing the Kei car seasonals (I prefer to drive a variety of muscle cars for example), time flies when you're having fun apparantly.
If all I did was trying to get as much credits in the shortest possible amount of time I would be bored very quickly with playing this game.

Haha , it made it to newspapers?

Anyways , I happened to write down the payout/exp of the new Muscle Car Seasonal Events:

Pre 1980 American cars , 550 PP max , no tyre restrictions.

Indy Road Course / 5 laps - 116,000 Cr , 17300 exp
Daytona Super Speedway / 5 laps - 101,700 Cr , 16700 exp
Cape Ring Periphery / 5 laps - 121,100 Cr , 18900 exp
Laguna Seca Raceway / 5 laps - 114,600 Cr , 17900 exp
Toscana (Tarmac) / 5 laps - 130,800 , 20100 exp

(The order of races is not same as written above.
I did the Indy Road Course race first and then the remaining from left to right.)

If you're going to use a picture of the "Last of the V8 Interceptors" as your avatar, the least you could do is not stretch it.

Looks like the Last of the V8 SUV's as it stands.

Just saying, is all.

Anyway, good score with the Seasonal details - I can get a car or 2 prepped, at least.

Geez, no reason to get bent out of shape & call me a dunce. :P
Of course I read what you said, I quoted it! QFT!! (hint: that doesn't mean quantum field theory :D )
Sometimes I feel like the forum is full of pumped up men ready to lock horns! haha. That's not me! Seriously!!! :D

What you said was:

Payout is higher than the 'Kei' car races, not that much higher though and doesn't make sense to grind them as they take considerably longer in muscle cars.

And I was just saying that the payout isn't just "not that much higher", it isn't higher at all, in fact it's much lower when you factor in the time. But that doesn't necessarily mean it "makes no sense to grind them"...

Clearly:

Unless they prove to be much more fun to race over and over again than racing the Kei car seasonals (I prefer to drive a variety of muscle cars for example), time flies when you're having fun apparantly.

For sure!

I'm probably going to take a few muscle cars at least through that. Though not on Indy road course because that made me car sick in the Cougar. LOL

OTOH, I have a much larger collection of kei cars (which I'm mad about!), so I will probably still do the k-cup seasonals far more.... but again, not just because they're a much higher payout, but because I really enjoy it!
But I've also "grinded" the world classics & 80s still a bit since the k-cup was released... just to mix it up.
IMHO, as long as it's not total crap payout - I rather have more options than less! So I certainly appreciate the addition of the muscle car seasonal cup!
