As those that may have followed some of my threads on GT3/4/5p, especially the Lists/Info Links thread, then this thread is not likely going to come as a surprise... but after scanning over the official list of cars in GT5 I thought it might be fun to break the list down by numbers:

BTW: If you would like to add to the list by all means feel free.

Also, for those drooling at the chance to criticize any information being offered in this thread, or if you are just one of the many who constantly complain about how there are too many Japanese cars in GT games, may I first suggest you read post #40 and try not to fall into the category of a tool. Any way to compare specific cars from GT4 that have returned in GT5? I'm wondering how many NEW vehicles there are this cycle. Great job though.

162 out of the 570 2000's cars are from the 2nd half of the decade.

I was thinking about a thread like this too. I estimated that the average horsepower in a GT5 car is about 200-225hp, which means theres over 220000HP amongst all the cars!!
 
I will most likely be using the r class cars, I'd really like to know how many I can rip around the ring in cockpit mode. I can't wait to use the e9x M3 around the ring either.

aem is an american tuning company, although in gt they have their s2k- but if hpa is under canada then this should be under usa.

there are more on this list that are questionable- take it like you want but dont post things without backup or proper info.

Question, though: You don't count things like the FTO LM, Integra Touring Car, or NSX-R LM Road/Race Car as Fantasy cars? I know they're loosely based on real cars, but they are PD-designed :)

Almost all of the Premium cars are new cars that were not in GT4. I thought I read somewhere that every car that is in GT5, that was not in GT4, will be premium. Don't remember where I read this, but this is not true from what I've seen anyway.
 
I'm pretty sure there's a premium corvette race car. No?

Both the z06 and ZR1 have RM variants. Are you counting those as race cars?

Zonda R isn't a race car. More like a track day car...like the Viper ACR.

Also, isn't their a DIGP RX-7 that's premium?

I believe the correct term is "Falcadore".
 
Pretty much the only difference is the Fords run a 5 litre Fomoco block and the Holdens run a 5 litre Holden block. Everything else is virtually the same.

Yes there is, the BP Falken RX-7, but it's standard.

And you are right, the Zonda R is an actual road car, but it is pretty much a full fledge race car as well, lol. When I passed by the ACR I had to think about that too. There's several cars that fall into that catergory.

Both use a Modified version of their individual bodies and different areo kits to give at least some resembleance to the road version that they are based on.

Don't get me wrong, they do use controlled components but this is in all forms of racing with the exception of unlimited racing.

Oh and as with all race cars they both have that one main part that is always different, Manufactures Badge :sly:

He wasn't talking about the FC RX-7, he was talking about R.E Amemiya's FD3S demo car seen in the crappy My Chemical romance intro. It won Gran Turismo's Tokyo Auto Salon Award.

And it is a premium model. Same with every car in that intro (excluding the Prius NHW20).

Ah yes that's right. Sorry when I typed in the other RE Amemiya car, this is the one that came to mind for some reason. Thanks for the correction. 56 premium race cars +1!!

EDIT: Make that +2 with the AEM S2K we have seen in the same screenshot as this FD.
