Probably same licensing issues as Shift 1.

Just take comfort in that GT5 has no real Porsche. :sly: Or Gumpert, either!

  5. I rather have Ferrari than Porsche :sly: I hope this time they prepare a dlc for they ps3 users, and ask to mama EA to pay a bit more for license, GT5 have a nice group of Ferraris. SMS don't want to be less than Polipohony right?

Trust me on this one. If the Ferrari's were in and the Porsche were out, the EXACT same posts would be posted. Everybody wants it ALL, and sadly, they simply CAN'T HAVE IT.

I believe that it isn't a question of money. It is to do with exclusive deals. Ferrari can't make a deal with PD, or whoever they have that prevents PS3 Ferrari's (remember, you got legal Ferrari's for XBox, and if they had had DLC for PC, I imagine you would have got it in that too), and then turn around and break it for more money. A deal is a deal.

Just be glad there aren't 50 Skylines in the game!

I'm not sure this is the issue anymore, Test Drive Unlimited 2 for PS3 has the Ferrari's on it so I can't see why Shift 2 can't have them.

I prefer Ferrari to Porsche as well.My Dad wants Ascari in these games but don't think they will be. Though isn't there a GT1/GT3 Ascari race car.

For cars and tracks I suggest the Official Shift 2 website here http://www.needforspeed.com/shift2unleashed/cars . They are currently unveiling new cars and manufacturers every Monday and tracks every Thursday.

Well from the perspective of wanting a different drive train I'd prefer Porsche.
Plenty of M/R, F/R drives already in the game.
Nice to have a R/R drive in game. More variety.

I got plenty of Ferrari's in GT5 but none in Shift. I got plenty of Porsche's in Shift but none in GT5. Because of this, when I want to drive Ferrari's, I'll hop onto GT5 and when I want to drive a Porsche, I'll go play Shift. Problem solved(for me).

  17. For me Ferrari is not just a M/R F/R car, it's a Ferrari.. too much love for these cars :dopey: EA is not poor, they are full of money, shift 2 looks like it's going to be a promising one, spend a bit more and add the Cavallino to the game for us! ..ehm.. at least for me.. lol! A DLC for ps3 users come on.... you can still do it! :)

    In EA we trust ....

Well, if driving around in the SKIN of a Ferrari (remember, this IS still a game!) is enough to make you put up with GT5's idiocies, have at it! I'm FAR more concerned about the game I race in, rather than the car I race in...

  28. @ Destiny Of course the game is more important, but what kind of game we are talking about? A car game, so particular names can elevate the overall level of what they're claiming to be big product, you know, rFactor with all that comunity building up mods after mods.. you can teorically find every car you can imagine overthere. iRacing in the other side, a great sim probably the best in the market but much less cars to race with.. so of course the sim is what matter, but when you have the sim you need the cars. I still feel something incomplete if there's not all the big names in, i.e. in GT5 I really feel the missing of Porsche and Maserati Mc12.. if they only convert the Ruf to premium...
Ok we can't have everything but not having Ferrari in the next big sim coming out is a bit disappointing in my humble opinion.. they just need to spend a little bit more, we are talking about EA the are not poor at all...
    Closefisted. :grumpy:

I guess I'm kind of different in how I approach a racing game...

Personally, I couldn't care less if I was driving around in a totally fictional BOX, as long as it handled like a real car, drove like a real car, and suffered consequences from bad driving like a real car. But it seems that game makers have totally reversed those priorities. It's got to LOOK just like the real thing, but you can drive it into a wall at 150mph and drive away whistling happy tunes!

THAT'S not 'racing', as far as I am concerned. That's arcade, no matter HOW good the physics are.

It's like modeling the LOOK of a football stadium, making the players LOOK photo-realistic to the point that you thought they were live broadcasts... and then letting them break the rules of soccer to the point where it wasn't soccer in the slightest.

Who would want to play that game? But here in racer-land, apparently what the damn box LOOKS like seems far more important than what we are allowed to do with it. I just can't get behind that kind of thought. Maybe I'm too old, but driving a piece of software around that LOOKS like a Ferrari doesn't convince me in the slightest that I actually AM. But real racing rules and real racing consequences certainly goes a LONG way to keeping me immersed in the game, whereas the first time anyone drives away from a high speed shunt, once again I am FORCED to acknowledge it's just a game, and a bad one at that.

  30. Gameplay, and the real racing experience with all the right rules, as you described is what I call "big sim" "true sim" or what ever... I want a "true sim" AND the right cars on it. It's like if in the next NBA game developers would not add Lakers and Celtics... having a racing game without the Ferrari would be the same thing, no matter how good the game will be. If you don't add these names, you still got some room to improve.
If manifactures for you doesn't mean anything let's cut all those nice vintage BMW, let's remove all those silver arrows Mercedes, the Mclaren, the Lambos... Why developers can't just keep only 3 cars? Nissan Skyline, RX-7 and 350Z.. 3 cars for everybody. I don't think the game would be the same for all of you... come on, if you just want to drive a big sim with 10 cars there is a very good one called iRacing. Old formula indy, a Prototype, a Corvette, some weird buggies and that's all..
