Features:

• A Return to Pure Survival Horror: From the father of the survival horror genre, Shinji Mikami. He appears once again as the director of this game, one which makes your blood run cold, but heats you right back up. Players must survive on limited resources, experiencing that supreme match of action and horror, that indescribable terror. To survive in an afflicted world, your anxiety and nerves will be pushed to the edge.

• Brutal Traps and Enemies with Puzzles: While struggling to survive, you’ll have to face indescribable terror, cruel traps, and sly mechanisms. Players can die in a trap all too easily, however, at times they can turn them against enemies.

• In an Unstable World, Not All Horrors are in Plain Sight: The player is driven into a corner as the world distorts and warps according to mysterious and evil horrors. The scenery: hallways, walls, doors, rooms, buildings, and even nature, all transforming in real time based on the player’s actions. And the threats keep coming from all directions.

• A Supernova of Horror: By setting one foot in this world weaved from lush backdrops, characters with personality, and a polished story, players will be sucked in, willing or unwilling, tension and anxiety rapidly mounting. When that fear is smashed and conquered, you can experience the bliss that can only be found in The Evil Within.

Finally yes. I was turned off by RE6's decidely actiony tone. This is a welcomed turn. Gives me proper RE vibes with a proper spill of Silent Hill thrown in, with it.

Purportedly Shinji Mikami's final game as a director.

The monsters looks like they come from that movie Thirteen Ghost.

The only reason for me to get it is so I could watch as my brother play. :scared:

Scary stuff! :ill:

Okay, I'm excited. Looks absolutely fantastic. Maybe enough to actually be scary.

This looks like a great return to the survival horror genre. Oh and its nice to see that its coming to the PC too.

The odd thing is, I hate horror films but love these survival horror type games.

Oh and the links to their homepage don't work since it needs to verify your age first, go here instead: theevilwithin.com

Ok that's a lot of scores, But I still want to hear what people have to say about it.

Has anyone played enough to talk about it?

And what system, Microsoft, Playstation, or PC?

So I see there's an update out today that addresses quite a few of the things that turned off folks from the PC version. The first 2 items, FPS cap and letterbox were seamingly pretty big sticking points for potential customers, so this should be a big improvement.

Taken from the Steam page:

"With this update, players with high-end PCs will be able to go in to their settings and toggle between running the game with a 30 FPS cap or a 60 FPS cap. Additionally, players will be able to disable the letterbox "black bars" in the game settings -- allowing you to maximize your screen's real estate.

Update Notes
  • Frame lock settings added
  • In settings, you can now toggle between a 30 FPS and 60 FPS cap.
  • Letterbox setting
  • UI toggle to disable the letterbox bars
  • Fixes gameplay issues when running at >30 FPS
  • Fixes for visual issues associated with removing letterbox framing
  • Achievements now work when console is enabled
  • Fix for game starting in windowed mode on first run
  • Minor localization fixes"

haven't tried it yet as its a pretty large update and i haven't finished downloading it.
