I've noticed a few other members get the same problem too. Just recently I noticed the quick edit box appears sometimes when you edit your post, and sometimes it doesn't do it at all and loads up the "Go Advanced" edit page instead. It would be great if this is sorted. :)

I find that this only happens the first time you edit a post.

And only in Lite.

I get it using normal GTP here, and the box still sometimes appears on the first edit.

The quick edit opens on the 2nd time, but never on the first. I'm starting to think its supposed to be like that... But I dont like it. The quick edit is a great thing.

It is quite random. Sometimes it is OK for about 3 edits, then it does the full edit. I just edited the my post above, and the box opened up, refreshed the page, then it didn't. Now it does again...

Edit: Box didn't open first for this one, but on second it did.

From my (limited) understanding of the way vB has implemented AJAX, I think that the Edit button is normally a link that would go to the edit page, but then the Javascript intercepts the command and does its funkiness. Thus, I would assume that if you’re being brought to the advanced editing page, you probably didn’t let the page fully load (the Javascript files are huge – the Quick Edit file alone is nearly 12 KB), which then means that the Javascript isn’t fully loaded and can’t intercept the command.

So in other words it's taking us to the advanced edit because we clicked the edit button before the whole page had loaded?

From my problems with it, I agree that the cause is that the page has not completely loaded when you click the link.

Ah, I think that may have sorted it, Sage.

Edit: It still took me to the full edit after this post. The page was fully loaded.

Yeah it did that to me last night. On one page it was fuly loaded but still went to full edit. on the next page that was fully loaded it didnt...

I'm not exactly sure what to tell you here. The one time a similar occurance happened to me, I had clicked the "Edit" button twice (which takes you to the Advanced page). Perhaps some AJAX incompatability issues will be fixed in the next vB bug fixing release.

Quick edit seems to work every other time I edit my post. When it doesn't work it shows the edit window not a window in my post.

Instead of opening a new thread I want to report a bug from the "Quick edit" view.

It opens all times I hit the edit button, so the problem from above doesn't happen to me.

The thing is: when I edit posts that are very big in the quick edit view, the save button doesn't work, so I must click to "go advanced" to hit the save button there.

I deal with pretty big posts. I'm the owner of GT4 drift settings depot thread and GTPDC series (Round 6), I think this is beacuse the posts are so big, but it may be a bug.

I've found that if you click on edit and end up with the quick edit, but then click on "Go Advanced" it erases the editing you just did. :irked:

Edit: Hmm, okay, so it worked this time. It still has happened to me before.

For me, it takes a few seconds for the Save button to work, and since a new page doesn’t load you get no indication that it is working until it’s done. So maybe you should try just waiting a few seconds after you click.

Blake is correct, you just need to wait a few seconds while that huge chunk of text is submitted. Because of the way AJAX works, you won't see the changes until they have all been uploaded to the server, and you don't have any indication of this as you would with a regular edit. I tried editing your post and did not have any problems after waiting for about 10 seconds.

It worked for me when I created a new thread. But the formatting wasn't quite right.

Wow. I use FF1.5 as well but I can't duplicate that at any window width. Is anyone else seeing it?
