RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

Trial Celica? Pah! Pah, good sir...I speak more of the (as yet) never seen before Opera Performance S2000! And I will hopefully soon be in reciept of a Nismo R32, which deserves a <3 all it's own...

It ain't taht rare, ya know. It's a prize car and it appeared like 4 times in my UCD :dopey: UCD experience changes with each person, I know, but it's a bloody prize car. But it's a prize car... of a license exam. Not much people can get through the licenses. Oh wait, is that license easy or something?

So much for the blabbering, but I'd definitely look forward to dat R32.

Too bad I wasted $50025 on this :(

uMadson?

I'm not amazing enough to do well on the licenses...I got it through endless UCD scouring, when it turned up next to my RSC Rally Raid, which is also due a tarmac tune...

uMadson?
My $50025 well spent then.

Yay! I shall be working on it over the next few nights since I am in a very lazy mood...it's not great at off road so hopefully it shall match up to the '03 Pajero on the road...or beat it! Ridiculous power... Also completely wasted on four pints of cider, but what the hell, I'm a dangerous girl...

Need something to get it out of your system? A R35 demolition derby perhaps? Catch the 458?

And Roj, with the MAZZIVE DOWNFORCE wing on, the lowest it can go is 25.

That's very nice of you. I can't use the code since I have a UK disc but I already got the car from the Signature Edition anyway. :)👍

Unfortunatly the Signature Edition was unavailable in North America. I got the Collectors Edition with the chrome line cars, and I got the Stealth Mclaren F! and a Joey Logano Nascar for pre ordering. I was hopoing they would givew us access to the rest of the stealth cars at some point

I've got a US copy and I bought the "normal" copy of the game... But wait, you said R35. Never mind. :D
 It's so far away from the road one you can't even call it that. It's RWD, it has a V8, it's genuinely frightening to drive rather than boring, and it takes some skill to get it right. The only thing that seems slightly related to the road car on it is the gorilla grill and the backside.

I prefer the Supra's note though. And I want to see the Yellowhat Supra return with the Castrol as a pair.

Castrol is the only good one...and I foooooking love the Arta.NSX GT500 because it always tries to kill me no matter how drunk.I am

Ok, secret admission time. I actually like the GTR GT500 stealth. It's a game of chicken, 3 laps of Spa, it tries to kill me in the slow corners and I try to drift it through the corners. I'll get one lap right, then it gets me.

The Castrol just makes me look like god. Even though if I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum.

Ah…nope, I'm afraid not. I do it all the time :D
Yeah, when I'm flushing your head down one.
Technically it is...well, once was, rather. I tweaked my M1 CSL for Spec II and SS tyres to make it competitive :D I just need to get Roj to fix something for me...
Yeah, that 1M (not M1! :P) was sweet, but it did need sports tyres. Also I've fixed my PC so I can get on those banners soon. 👍

20/25 isn't bad.

I see, at least you got a Stealth McLaren. :D I want the Gamestop Camry and Edge Camaro!

I liked it since I rubbed your defeats right in your face. Too bad it's rubbing the lack of a PS3 into my face too.

Haven't driven the Yellowhat Supra yet but it definitely is worth a try, RKM-spec or otherwise. The look of that JZA80 is just

Fully tuned Triumph Spitfire.

The burble of that engine from idle up to redline is awesome!

You have dedicated your 5000th post to your favorite classic Le Mans car I see.

Congratulations by the way. 👍
Fack you, you beat me to it :grumpy:

But yea, Congratulations on the 5k posts!!! :D :D :D You are now a GTP Veteran.

And I am now knackered after doing the FGT GVS Seasonals…

Here it is... The waste of a gold dlc paint... Or is it? Let's find out...
With 229 BHP at use and a exhaust from a hairdryer, this car provokes laughter online, this car feels a bit sorry for itself. This is shown on the track as it sets a slow, fun but understeery 2:48:917 around Spa.

Now with the tuning expertise of RKM lets see what it can do...Yep it's quick, it's fun & and it blows unwanted shame at sport cars. The car seems much more responsive. However there is one drawback, it seems to reach it's maximum steering limit very quickly at high speeds. So this problem doesn't really occur much:lol:. The car is surprisingly agile and will take corners at will. The time for the RKM GTR is a 2:41:729 which is 2 seconds quicker than my Subaru!!!:P:eek:

On the '10 RKM Camaro SS:

Ah, the Camaro - a notable rival to the RKM SRT8 (that is, until RKM tunes the modern Mustang). They're distinctly American, being they're big, burly, muscle cars however they're unique in their own ways. The SRT8 has been taken care of in an earlier review, this time around I'll focus on the SS.

First off, the RKM SS is more nimble and agile than the SRT8. Not only because the SS is lighter but the steering feel is weighted just right - not too twitchy and not too sluggish either. The rear axle of the SS is looser as well. A loose rear axle sounds fun but the RKM SS is susceptible to trail-braking understeer and power oversteer, especially on exiting hairpins. I find it actually difficult to spin out the SS. The SRT8 is stable and hints of understeer at the limit but the SS is very tossable into corners and can carry more speed than the Dodge. Drive the SS with the tire load indicators on and you'll see mostly the rear suspension working hard to stabilize the movements of the body, which it does real well. Watching replays of the SS driven on undulating tracks reveals the body stays relatively flat, with minimal roll or pitching/yawing. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the SRT8. Not to discredit the SRT8, but in terms of handling, the SS is the dominant car.

Revs also build faster in the Chevy. Max torque is available at 4.5K rpm which results in more brisk acceleration than the SRT8. Think of the engine of the SS as an 8-cylinder VTEC - the V8 is rev-happy and torque delivery is linear in feel, though the line graph for it shows otherwise. The engine noise can be perplexing (even with stock piping) because there's a unique whining sound similar to that of a supercharger under the hood. And it drives like one. This car is meant to be driven with an MT. It'd be fun to blip the throttle while downshifting. :)

Overall, I'm impressed with the RKM SS. It is very nimble and quick, yet still retains the character US muscle cars are known and loved for. SS vs SRT8? I'd pick the SS, it's the clear winner in this shootout. :)

Now, if only Dodge could turn this into reality and replace the current 4-door Charger:

Tuner Comments:
Here comes some happy fun driving! Updated for Spec II is the BMW 1M CSL, with new tyres and everything! This sports tuned Beemer can thrash high end sports cars around the Nurburgring with giggle-inducing ease, and works as a fantastic drifter if you go glue on some Comfort Hard rubber too!

Another ressurection from the archives. This one did need some tweaking. It's gotten tamer but at the same time once you get it sliding, it's much easier to control.

And yes, it is a big hint as to what's coming soon. :D
