Thanks for the comments, I've now added YouTube version of all the videos in the original post.

It was nice to bring a new car over 350mph, and now I'm looking for more targets. Some of the cars I want to try I don't have yet, like the Audi R8, Bentley Speed 8 (Sarthe 24 I and II), and Nissan R89C (Missions 30-34). I think I'll be saving up for a BMW V12 LMR, and maybe try one of those R32's. 👍

i got that lotus 350 up to 320.5 and i got the gt1 up to 370 my frend hit 400 with the gt1

Excuse my frustration, but please, for the umteenth time, Read: The Rules in post #1 of this Thread. Once you've done that, feel free to post your speed(s) for verification:tup:. Also, ensure to post using the best standard of English you are capable of as to comply with the AUP.

Anyway, congrats MS:tup:! Keep it up, as usual!

This took a day longer than I expected because as soon as I had a R92CP run at just over 350 along comes MasterStorm with his 352.46. So... back to the drawing board and here is a 352.67MPH

I've been busy with the R89 as well but I think a record is out of reach for me. This car had 6500 miles on it and I don't really see a way of acquiring a fresh one (Mission 34 again?? :banghead: don't think so). So I may just submit what I have, which is about 1.5MPH short of sucahyo's record.

My attempts with the Chaparral 2D are getting no better than the high 307's so I think I need to move on to something else for a while.

So I guess I have to edit my sig now eh...:nervous:

Ah, come on, Mission 34's easy! Third try on my old game, and I plan to do it first time on my newer file ;)
Anyway, you can't do that - you can only win the R89c once. So, to zero the mileage you will have to buy it from yourself. Know how to do that?

Well, if you take the record back fast enough, you won't need to lose the formatting :sly:

There's still a load of traction control :indiff: anyway, it's legitimate.

Good luck to you. There definitely are some people who can pull it off quickly but I am not one of them. It took me month of almost daily attempts to finally win, and then only by about a car length. I just could not string together a lap's worth of error free segments as that evil, evil Merc would always seem to find some new bump or curb to make it go spinning off.

There's still a load of traction control anyway, it's legitimate.

Hey, come on, enough of this traction control bashing. If its good enough for Fernando, Kimi and friends then it's good enough for me ;)

I guess theres a compliment hidden in there, but you took my record, so I'll poke you in the eye anyway... :)

Nissan R92CP Race Car '92 @ 352.68mph [screen]

I expect you to take that back without too much problem, as all I did was re-run my same setup until I hit a good run.

My attempts with the Chaparral 2D are getting no better than the high 307's so I think I need to move on to something else for a while.
Yeah, the Chaparral 2D gets VERY hard to tune once you pass 308mph.

Anyway, I was going to post some new records earlier, but then I had to go retake my R92CP record. So here they are...

First 2 more cars for 340mph+

Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car '98 @ 340.20mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]
BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99 @ 340.88mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

And finally a brand new car...

Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car '02 @ 301.64mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

YouTube versions of the videos to follow when i get a chance.

Nissan R92CP Race Car '92 @ 352.68mph

I was sort of expecting that. :ouch:

all I did was re-run my same setup until I hit a good run.

Yeah, I find there is easily .75mph difference between a good run and a "I really nailed that one" run. I think the biggest gain comes from the few hundred yards between exiting the turn to entering the tunnel. A perfect smooth line minimizing scrubbing of the front tires seems to be the key. Most of the time I either have to do a small correction to stay off the barrier or I keep it pinched down too long and exit into the middle of the track.

You're not driving a car with twice as much bhp as it's weight in kgs :p

Typical MasterStorm, taking his record back by a ridiculously small margin, and then adding some more... Nice work with the NSX-R!

Getting the curve right coming out of the corner is just somthing you get used to. In theory the center of the track is faster (less drag from the sidewalls), but with a few cars, the drag from the walls can cause the bottom of the car to sit more stable, leading to more traction (and thus higher speed). 👍

Ahhh... I can't fit any more records in my signature! I've had to start using really shorthand names and remove other parts of the signature!

I'm trying with my xjr-9 and am very close to 300mp/h, but I have a problem.

At ~250mp/h the car won't turn left very well, and that point is the big left-hander, which can obviously cause a problem, as the car needs to turn left. I have the general 300mp/h suspension settings, no ballast and minimum front downforce and maximum rear downforce.

I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me a solution. Happy speeding.

Hey DE, since there has been way too little activity on the leaderboard recently here's a Bentley at 356.09MPH

MY (hopefully successful) response with the R92 will have to wait till tomorrow

So, to zero the mileage you will have to buy it from yourself. Know how to do that?

I have seen comments to that effect reading through the board but could not find anything that really explains how to do it :dunce:

On a related note; I notice that most of the quotes inserted in replies include a "originally posted by NNN" and a link to that post but when I wrap quote tags around the text that does not appear (as above). What's the trick to doing that?

But using [] instead of (). I tried to use quote tags, but it doesn't like quote tags inside them heh.

If you hit the quote button, it does it all for you. 👍

As for the R92CP... I'll wait to see what you can cook up.

For now, I've just read in another thread that you can buy the Audi R8! :dopey: :dunce:

Or, equally, you could stop taking records? No, thought not
Anyways, here's my take on a condensed version..
Fastest With : Nissan R92CP, Pescarolo '04, Sauber C9, BMW V12 LMR, R390 Racecar, Mazda 787B, Esprit V8, Chaparral 2D, McLaren F1, Supra, VW Nardo, Esprit V8 GT, Ford GT LM, NSX-R LM, FTO SuperTourer, RX-7 LM.
That gives you an exciting 37 more characters to play with :)

Excuse me? Did you look at the records section recently? :p 'Way too little activity' indeed, I might start updating the leaderboard weekly if this keeps up.. Anyway, nice work :)

Correct. Open the Quote button in a new tab (or a new window if you haven't seen the light and started using Firefox) if you want to quote a load of posts with that reference on them.

My God, you never cease to amaze MS! And finally what looks like a new addition to the Leaderboard...
Thankyou! :)

I have almost 10 cars stuck between 297 and 300mph now, so there could be more new cars to come yet...

...but today you have almost heard the last of me! I had just run in the high 356.xx with the Audi R8, when I get up to get a drink... but my foot is tangled in the pad wire!

The Playstation 2 falls from the desk, and the loading screen turns to disc read error! I am thinking my settings will be lost! I go to open the disc tray, and close it again to try and kick it back into gear, but it wont open!!!!!!! :scared:

Then I notice the disc tray is slightly open, so I try to pull it open, but it wont move! Then the plastic bit on the front of it (with the small turnable logo) breaks off! AAHHHHH! My Playstation 2 is broken and also GT4 is stuck inside! :( :guilty:

Right now I am almost ready to cry twin waterfalls, but I get my head together, and reach for the toolkit. I have opened my PS2 up a few times before, to fix disc read error, so I know I can at least get the GT4 disc out safely. Thankfully I am also able to repair the CD bay whilst I have it open, by realigning the tray on its runners (this was not easy).

It's all working again now, but the GT4 disc has a big scratch in it. It still plays fine, but sometimes loading the garage or settings/tuning screen can take quite a while. It could have been much worse!

Now the PS2 is sat on the floor so I cannot make it fall again. :nervous:

ouch. I had similar accident to your that did lead the destruction of my second GT4 disk.. I'm having third one already.. :scared::O

Risky business, not having your PS2 on the floor... ;) Glad to hear you've just about got away with it MasterStorm, and that this is just adding a little inconvenience to your loading times and no further problems. I'm becoming increasingly amazed, with all these stories, that my PS2 has never yet missed a beat :nervous:

Is it just me or has Rac3rX's Toyota GT1 speed been taken off the leader-board? Shouldn't his speed still be the 3rd fastest or somewhere around there?...anyways sorry if this has already been answered.

yup, it's been taken off since it was beaten and the owner of that record has been banned.. besides, none of us wants to remember that arrogant brat.

MS, that exact same thing happened to me, everything but the R8 part is true, but I was using a different car( not using its name to protect the innocent) and was up to 298.3-4 and went to go get something to eat and tripped over the PS2 wire to the controller.

The next day I went out and bough a wireless controller

The car lost the settings and I never regained it

I have a strong feeling the settings will not be found again...

As I started reading MasterStorm's PS2 travails I was thinking I would hold off on submitting this R92CP video, but since it had a happy ending here is my response to his 352.68mph

Session Speed

And before he finds any more speed in that R8 I better get in my result from last night's runs (check out the sparks from dragging the tail)

357.61mph

Edited (for reasons of slow-wittedness):
Ahh 💡 - Viper, I only just now noticed the reason for your interest in the speed.

Its amazing that your record has stood for almost four months.

This just means that it's time to take the tarp off that Audi and whip it around the track again:cheers:

If you ever have a similar situation where you cant eject the PS2 with a disc stuck inside then this pic below will be invaluable as you dont need it powered up or have to open the PS2 case ;)
I originally used one of these when I used an old PS2 for cogswap to play copied games before I got a flip lid case, The picture below is easy to make
I just cut it out using a thin peice of plastic ( I used an old dvd case and cut the shape from the back of the case )

cogswap%20guide_clip_image002.jpg

cogswap%20guide_clip_image002_0000.jpg

when you have the shape cut ... just slip it in under the disc tray and slide it along to the right until you feel it connect with the white pin that the tray moves on and pull it fully to the right and the tray will open 👍
worth keeping in mind for future reference ;)
