For me this occurs if the suspension is set too hard. Make it softer, much softer.
Downforce is usually more of a culprit in this situation ;)

Watching 2078TM's vidoes...
OK. I can't really be certain about this, among other things the speedometer in the first video is very hard to see depending on the camera angle, and is obscured by exposure in key places - perhaps the nose rises and the speed bumps up, I can't tell from this video. A direct download for the videos, all of them (although having seperate videos is not ideal, it gives opportunities to actually use different runs to sidestep possible disqualification), would be much better. By this I mean providing a link to an upload server, so that I can download the video(s) to my hard drive for closer inspection.

Well I have also encountered the loss on control when using balast, but I only eventually use this on a few cars, so I was not thinking that was the problem. I guess strange downforce settings could lead to a similar effect. 👍

what car and at what speed is the fastest road car??

i got my zonda with nos to over 320 but that was just playing i havnt tried it properly yet :sly:

Thanks Viper.

Lots of front downforce often does that. I found that out to my cost in a Mazda RX-7, it responded negatively to all the usual setting changes, so I did some unusual ones and was annihilated for it

I have uploaded the replay with photomode directly from my PS2, which, hopefully, should be clearer:

A couple of questions - 1) While I did a photomode analysis during the replay I originally submitted from my video camera I needed to do it again for the replay above. Am I correct in assuming that you cannot save a replay within GT4 including the photomode portion (I know I can take pictures and save them). 2) A related question - the session record screen apparently cannot be saved but must be photographed or videoed off the TV, is this correct?

I'm still learning how to use Movie Maker and just found how to change setting during capture so as to get this rather long video to be a manageable size for uploading.

Also, here is the link to the video (is this what you requested?):

Both true.

No, that's just a link to the YouTube page on which the video is hosted (I can find that myself), I asked for a link to the file for download to my hard drive - this allows me far more freedom in watching the video, allowing me to zoom, freezeframe more accurately and watch in slow-motion if required.
However, the video you embedded is of far higher quality, and is enough for verification. Anylysing it now...

I'm about to double-post, for the purpose of keeping the next post clean.

Here is a photo of 2078TM's run of 371.90mph.

As we all know, a photo is nowhere near enough to prove something like this. Below is the YouTube linkage to a video of the run, with multiple frontwheel close-ups at key points of the run.

I have scrutinised every inch of this video, and I am certain that it is legitimate.

I hereby declare that the Gran Turismo Four World Land Speed Record is now held by 2078TM of GTPlanet, piloting his Toyota GT-One TSO20 Race Car in Esso Ultron Colours to a top speed of 371.90mph.

Leaderboard Updated
The Three Hundred Mile Per Hour Club Leaderboard now has three hundred entries.

Toronado, if you have any comments about this video, please make them known.

DE,

Thanks,

I'm not sure what was more work for me; getting the speed out of the car or dealing with the video save/capture/upload/link/etc etc

I'd hate for you not to realise you've just taken the title that dozens of dedicated tuners have fought for for more than a year, across over 200 pages. :)

Hi DE,

This is a logical follow on from my previous speed - the TS020 without nitrous at 329.11MPH.

I think this may take the Non-Nitrous record but I'm not sure. The leaderboard Hall of Fame shows that Opendriver19a has the record but the fastest NN speed I see is Toronado at 325.06. In any case, here it is. Same settings except for shortening the gearing and a very minor tweak to aero to match the lower power and speed.

Video showing session speed (DE, how did you turn my other video into a photograph?):

Better video, replay only:

No photomode shots of the front tires - if you would like that let me know

And please don't forget my Speed 8 submission :)

2078TM congrats ..for the TOPSPEEDs .. With the GTONE
..and with the Speed8 👍

Congrats to all the driver that have Made new speeds in the past days also ;)

Last week I was busy in my forum for various challenges
and LasVegas .. and top speeds (less than 300mph..)

I hope to return with new speed for "THE Leader Board"

Seems we have another 'super-tuner'!
Like you, you mean? ;)

tried doesnt work and DE that doesnt work either so anybody have a suspension setup i could use?
Both of those work. Post up your suspension and downforce settings, and I'll give you a few pointers.

(DE, how did you turn my other video into a photograph?)
Technically I didn't, I just took a screenshot of the video whilst it was playing on this page :p

Anyway, congrats on the Non-Nitrous Record as well! There's no need for photomode close-ups, at least there never has been in the past. Your first video's Session Record is very hard to see, but I've managed to freeze-frame it just as it starts to darken, resulting in being able to see 329.11mph.

Yes, if you'd been around for a while you'd know that's a hotly contested title, currently held by Toronado with 325.06mph, and you'd also know that I often forget to update the Hall of Fame :dopey:
At least now I have an excuse to do an update... That's a legitimate NN run, congratulations!
(And still I see excessive traction control flickering your AIDS-light! Has the Leaderboard caught AIDS all of a sudden?)

FormulaGT
I want to see just how flawed the system is!
*raises eyebrows* Excuse me?

congrats on the new overall-record 2078TM 👍 well done on both new records!!
i'm still waiting for my 6.2mile edition of a certain car to appear, and then maybe i can take up business again.......

Thanks everybody for the kind comments. :)

As far as traction control goes - I play with the settings and settle on the one that gets me the fastest overall speed. And, at least for me, the setting that gets me the best first split time also yields the best times at the second split, at the trees, at entering the tunnel and at exiting the tunnel. Setting it at 0 or 1 will cost me easily 2 seconds at the first split. I don't know about you guys, but when that Stage 4 turbo spools up I find it almost impossible to maintain a controlled wheel spin, either it bounces off the rev limiter or it drops way down and bogs. Bottom line is, I'm faster throughout the run with it than without it.

So, what to work on next.
I owned a TVR 2500M some years back so it would be nice to post a Speed 12 result but so far I'm 16 (yes, sixteen) MPH short of the record and not even over 300 :boggled:
When I was growing up Jim Hall was my sports idol so I'll have to see what I can do with the Chaparral.
By the way, has anyone tried the 2J? I'm sure its a brick and not sure if nitrous is available.

I have tried the 2J. Fabulous car, just for flat courses only. I managed somewhere in the 270-280mp/h region I think, without nitrous, which isn't avaliable. Also, it's NOT a brick! For stupidly insane speeds, yes, but give it a nice flat track and it flies. The uneven surfaces of the Nordschleife and the bumpy Mulsanne aren't suited to it, but it kills the oppostion everywhere else. It is probably my favourite car in the game, as, with a little bit of gear adjustments, it competes with Group C cars in 1st and 2nd gears, and obliterates them as it gets to 240mp/h. Well, mine does anyway, as I lengthened 3rd gear.

Another thing, I really must get my xjr-9 out. My username is one of my favourite cars, and I think that I once did a run that didn't go to the end of the track, but read at 302mp/h on the speedometer. I will give it a go, but I have been playing the original Le Mans game for the original Playstation. It's too addictive!

xjr-9

P.S. Chapparal is 2 "p's" and 1 "r". Sorry to be picky, but people misspell it all the time.
