And its been sitting there since GT4. Any of the race cars that had tobacco or alcohol advertising on them (F1 cars, Toyota GT-One, Lancia Delta, S4, etc), has tactfully been removed, however take a close look just behind the front wheel of the Minolta Toyota 88C-V and you will notice the "West" logo, which is the exact design and color scheme of West Tobacco (at that time)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_(cigarette)

The strangest part is I searched all morning for a photo of the real life Toyota 88C-V or even just the 88C with this logo and came up blank. According to Wikipedia there is no mention of sponsorship of the team either, although its possible they could have been a personal Sponsor of a driver in the car. Unfortunately there is no easy way to research this further. However the fact a photo of this car in real life can't be found with the logo makes me believe thats not the case either. I'm sure someone has caught on to this since the GT4 days, but I found it interesting nevertheless.

Im retarded, I was looking for it on the top car and then I scrolled down D:

THe logo on that car doesnt look like the logo used in the 1980s on the Zakspeed F1 cars

I saw this but didn't mention it as I hate it when they are forced to edit things out of games; as they probably will this.

Aside from the color its exactly the same font and typeface. The scheme in this decal on this car follows their newer color combination but before the two streaks were added when they went to McLaren in the late 90's.

Tobacco? Guns? It's all in a days advertising for Gran Turismo! 👍

Its been like that for over 5 years, I doubt it will ever change.

Because no one has never noticed it before.

Advertising rules are abit ridiculous though if people want to smoke then they will, a sign on the packet doesn't stop people smoking and smoking only does harm if you smoke lots (over about 7 a day) and get addicted. (this is my opinion only.)

If anyone watched the aprentise then you will have seen the stupid alcohol rules on advertising, its once again health and safety gone mad.

Whats 'Cockpit' advertising anyway? Sounds like my nightmare of a club does that...

What sucks is models of vintage race cars have to have alternate logos on them. I managed to get some CLK-GTR models with Warsteiner logos before they changed them and the value has gone up quite a bit. I've also seen some Ferrari F1 models with Marlboro logos for the Japan market (I think) after they banned it in the rest of the world go for HUGE money. There are companies that sell diecasts out there that even do limited runs of Alcohol and Tobacco logo decals so you can modify your existing vintage cars.

I fail to see the connection between this thread and GT5.

be happy, that no naked boobs are on the car....so there would be indexing in the USA....everybody else would enjoy.

Hey they could have done MUCH worse. This isn't such a big deal, just reading too much into it.

Its about a car model IN GT5, theres your connection

Its not a big deal, just something I thought was interesting to discuss (especially that its not on the real life car as well!) instead of the usual multiple choice of thread posting here:

"This is how to do the glitch"
"This game sucks because"
"I know everything and can fix this game because"
"Give me a free X2010"
"All you cheaters suck"
"People who hate cheaters are whiners".

Hmmm semi off topic here but I decided to do abit of looking and it seems the Lancia Stratos Rally Car on GT5 isnt sponsored by Alitalia anymore, I thought it didn't look quite right :(

The nascars still say Coors pole award under the sprint cup logo lol. PD can actually get sued for having alcohol reference in a rated E game

I don't think so. The ratings system is a purely voluntary agreement. I mean I guess maybe if some parent really wanted to be a nitpicking jerk they could, but it would take them 2 seconds of a tiny update to remove, and I would hope a judge would laugh and tell them to piss off..... I would hope is the operative term.

When EA Sports did the Nascar Game in 1998. They got sued over having Alcohol and Drug references on the cars like in real life. Before the game came out they had to change it. Now instead of Budwiesser on the hood it says the drivers name on the newer nascar games

Lets just hope PD don't see this thread then eh lol.

Anybody know what rating FM3 is coz I could swear I saw a Marlboro Logo for a sticker when my chicks bro had it on ?

Do you have any more info on this? I tried to look it up but came up with nothing.

The McLaren F1 1994 in GT5 has a color named "Malboro White"
There is also the Toyota GT-One that has Malboro decals on its rear wing.

Might cause some problems in the UK too....All tobacco advertising in any shape or form is banned here I think. This is one of the reasons why Tobacco advertising was banned in Formula1...The guy who runs it is English...also i think the rule applies through all of the EEC (Most of Europe). There were some work arounds though. Marlborough used to just put a barcode on the cars. If read with a barcode reader it read marlborough. Maybe someone should give PD the heads up.....Im not one of the PC brigade but if PD gets hammered then its us as customers that will suffer!!!!! Less free updates, expensive DLC etc!

The whole front of the GT-One is a giant Marlboro chevron (but in the game the clipped the tip off of it, also on the rear wing decals). I am 99% sure though the actual Marlboro word/logo doesn't appear.

Also if you import a F2007 from GTPSP the F2007 has a Martini logo completely uncencored that does not happen on the prenium version of the F2007.
EDIT:Theres also cars that are cencored for no reason I.E The D2 CLK almost every decal was cencored along with the BOSS/Sonar DTM Car in GTPSP it was cencored in GT5 its not.And i have yet to understand why they cencored all the decals on the Renault 5 Turbo Rally Car.

I want the Martini logo on the Delta, without them the car is incomplete! I don't care what the stuff is they are advertising/sponsoring, as long as the car is true-to-life & historically accurate I'm happy.

I still don't see what the problem is, the tobacco industry has always been a major player in motor sports. Removing tobacco advertising from older race cars is like removing the pipe from George Jetson, it's just wrong. Everybody has to be so damn PC these days in fear of being sued it's stupid.

Yeah, that prevents JPS Lotus's from their full glory...
