Are submissions for this race due by Monday 17th or Monday 24th? (might want to add that info to the OP (or is it somewhere I've missed?))

Cheers

+1 Although I'm thinking the 17th is a bit too close!

Sorry. about half an hour before this post, I realised I forgot the due date, and time

It's Monday January 23rd (23/1/11) (information now in original post)

Even though I despise Tokyo I'm soooo happy to finally be in an open series again!

:sly: I'll see you at the Nurburgring then, yes?

Just a reminder to everyone to not forget the starting weight penalties! Check them in the sign up thread.

A little house keeping, the Toyota Denso Sard Supra is a year 2000 model not 2001, there's only one in the game so i know it's the right car. (Also E RaK's post no:52 in sign up thread says 2000)
In an another unrelated non issue, I see that the AI can be set to any speed, so i suppose its safe to say they can also run on any tyres?

G'Day all.
Race completed.
Finished 4th in 200 point Race.Did okay except copped a penalty on the very last corner of last lap. Stupid F1 McLaren :grumpy:

I ran with AI @ +10 on RS tyres.
I had RH front & RM rears which meant only one pit stop.
Just off to submit times.

Good luck all !

Yeah he left the AI options open so we could strategize a little bit.

And just another thing granturismite, perhaps specify if the race will be run in the forward or revers direction to avoid confusion.

Yes i did a test run and found i was able to save a fair bit of time by setting the AI to whatever speed aligns with your skills, then drafting them pretty much the whole way around the track (esp along pit straight) saves you a fair bit of time for this circuit.

^. Yes i though it was pretty obvious too, run the track forward unless stated otherwise. (none are so all races run in forward direction)

Yeah. I forgot to state forwards. It is most definatly in the forwards direction (ie. not reverse!)

I did my run today, with 1 stop, both R3's. I came 6th at A+10, but I forgot to record the time. So I did a re-run, with an R2 stint, then an R4 stint. I was around 5 seconds slower (overall) then first run, but with the exact same AI, I came 5th. Huh?

Yeah, I have noticed that the AI seems to be hit or miss even on the same setting!

It could depend on what tyre setting you had the AI on. RH/RM/RS? I have found that with R246 if you have a minor bump, even if it doesnt get you a penalty pit you fall just a little to far behind and could lose the ability to effectively draft on a higher AI setting. Which is crucial on this track.

But you see, we are running the speed limiter penalty, not the pit in penalty in this series!

Ran some times today. It may be an initial reaction to running on GT4 for the first time in a while, but the Takata Dome is a better car than I remember it when I was running in the Super GT series.

It runs an average lap time of a 1'35.xxx in my hands and goes 8 Laps between stops on R3 Tires...I'll see if I a 2-Stopper run on R4's is any faster. Also, I ran with the AI set a +1 with no real problems...Nice to be able to focus soley on driving instead of looking behind you every corner! (I'm used to running races with the AI at +10!)

EDIT: Times submitted. While single lap times dropped by around 1.5-2 whole seconds per lap on R4's running a Two-Stop Race, the overal run time was slower (Probably because of the Extra Pit-Stop). Also, the car didn't react as well as on R4's with a full load of Fuel than it had on R3's (The handling was pretty erractic at times).

Can't submit as RL is getting in the way this week. But will jump in soon. A shame because even though my times aren't competitive on this track I enjoy R246 a ton. A great place for drafting.

Time sent. Never been my best track but really enjoyed being behind the wheel again, and the Audi's a great car to drive.

Good luck all:tup:

Sorry Guys: :indiff:
Been swamped at work & no days off before deadline. Had hoped to get in at least one more try but have submitted my best from several days ago instead. Looking forward to the next round & time for a better effort.

Submitted! Penalty on lap 11 coming on to the front straight... but a decent time, nonetheless. I would give it another go but I'm pressed for time the rest of the weekend!

Time submitted

I've spent way too much time (I had a big assignment due on Friday and this was my study break activity) trying to get a completely clean run for this, my final run isn't perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it.

2xstints with R3's strategy
AI + 10 (200 A-spec points race)

I ended up running R2/R2 for five laps then switching to R3/R2 for the rest of the event. After all this talk of drafting I ran a slightly higher final ratio than would be my usual and I think it paid off.

Posted my time. I believe I won't be at the top as I wasn't doing it seriously... So good luck all!
