it still happens all the time in BTCC. stop talking about it like it's something of the past =)

look at this from like 2 weeks ago:

The nudge was fine. Pulling to the left across the right-rear quarter approaching a left-hander: not cool.

And I was wholly expecting Plato to be the one "in the wrong"... :p
EDIT: on second viewing, they turned into each other. Heh.
EDIT: P'r'aps not.

Myy midget has rubbed on other people's viper a few times..though not intentionally..what I hate is sneaky rubbing.

I don`t mind an occasional tab if its not on purpose. That`s what happens when drivers duke it out. You usually can tell when someone is doing it on purpose which is a definite no-no.

Bumps and taps are tolerated in my rooms, intentional ramming to cause damage or get you out of a spot you've worked hard for is not tolerated. I don't ram people unless I'm either hosting or participating in a "dirty" room.

It's Mortal Kombat. 👍 I agree, Columbian humor is really sophisticated... Colombian humor is pretty much how it is in the rest of the world. :sly:

Here's "playful touching" in modern motorsport:

"Excuse me kind sir, but could you please remove your face from my bottom."

Its fine, but please, keep it for the bedroom :sly: Ahh, I see this thread is about racing...

Rubbing is racing
One of the most misused phrases in all of motorsport. Whoever first said that, well, shouldn't have, because now people use it as an excuse to purposely drive dirty. "Rubbing is racing" refers to the excitement that comes from accidental contact with little actual effect. Gaining position by driving dirty isn't racing, its cheating.

Agreed. There's rubbing someone by squeezing side by side or a small tap in the rear, and then there is blatant rear ending and crashing (which I cannot stand).

Rubbing is that light bumping that doesn't cause the other car to leave the road or skid or veer off or anything. If it caused the other driver to even correct with the wheel, then thats not rubbing.

Who doesn't like abit of play touching or rubbing or anything else remotely related to it for that matter although it cant be done by other dudes that's a big no no :sly:

I believe that pretty much all of the time contact should be avoided. Yes, I do admit to rubbing past others while overtaking on the ring but It's all unintentional. Using contact tactically in racing games creates bad habits believe me I have been there.

Playful touching by the FIA's school of cotton-wool and estrogen : 5 meter gaps between each car.

actually, last night i was hosting a room, and this one race was real tight. i think there were 4 of us in the back of the pack just fighting to make sure we didnt end up last. i was giggling like a schoolgirl having the time of my life.

I know, I can't stand blatant rear ending either. :ouch:

You just have to start off with small taps, I try and just go along with whatever everyone else in the room is doing. 👍

I guess you guys are right. You just have to be aware about when the playful touching gets too vigorous or strenuous you know? You have to know when it goes beyond the limits of what make people want to play GT5.

Here's an example of when this person should have just said "no."

This is probably the best post in here, since the innuendo is likely to be unintentional and is really subtle.👍

That's more "running into the barriers as fast as possible" than "playful touching/rubbing/ramming/whatever".

I'd say this is rubbing...

To be honest, rubbing adds to the excitement but it can go too far. Like someone said previously, if contact makes a driver correct the steering even slightly, it is too much.

I'm not sure if you can take it that far, I mean you yourself have seen instances almost 100% of the time in BTCC where its absolutely fair to take someone out. We need to drop this FIA mentality when it comes to contact (deliberate or accidental) in motorsport that it apparently must be banished and we must not misbehave or we shall be Lewis-Hamilton'd to the naughty step (even if in Hamilton's case it's just him being an idiot rather than making contact).

Here is what many regard as the greatest race in touring cars, what made it spectacular was the amount of bumping and deliberate attempts to knock each other off the road, if this was to happen now there would just be a sea of finger-pointing, cheat-accusing and pointless penalising and nannying.

The problem with racing on a screen is that when you're side by side, you don't have exact judgement of each other as you would in real life. Unless everybody has a triple screen setup, some rubbing during overtaking is sometimes going to happen. But if everybody is interested in ZERO touching and sticking to the line they were about to take, then most of the time it stays clean. I know sometimes people get aggressive and loose traction and so on, but it shouldn't happen more then twice per race, otherwise it's just clear someone doesn't take racing serious as it should be. In RL nobody wants to wreck their car.
